When you factor in the HBO content, I already think it's the best streaming service. It's biggest issue was availability.

Just the HBO shows alone (new and old) will take you years to watch.

I know some people don't like rotating content, but they always add something new every week/month.

I love the movie library. There is always something to watch.

Bout time. HBO Max is a steal (I get it for free from my isp so I may be bias.)

Does the current Roku Ultra come with optical output? I have an old receiver, so it won't pass 4K HDMI signal.

edit: Looks like the 2017 model had it

It hasn't since the 2016 model. You can use HDMI from an Ultra direct to your TV and then do optical from TV to your receiver. Keep in mind Optical can only send DD up to 5.1 lossy or PCM Stereo. Some TVs can pass DD+ lossy.

Yeah, I have a projector, and I'm 98% sure that it won't pass audio back. I watched Disney+ on the projector and it was fantastic, so I will suffer with 1080p to watch on a 135" screen I guess.

FYI I had to delete the regular HBO app on Roku, then reinstall HBO Max app to get it to work.

It still showed up as HBO on my search, but if you tab over to the right then it is HBO Max.

correct. But if you have the regular HBO app installed, click on it, it still opens as HBO, not HBO Max. At least it did for me on both devices. You have to reinstall the new app.

If you run a system update, it updates the App. It still shows up as HBO, but when you open it, it is HBO Max

I just checked and the HBO Max app is in the New and Notable apps.

In order to initially sign-in, you have to click on a movie or show 1st.

I'm still seeing so many people who think HBO and HBOMax are exactly the same thing but with a different name. They don't get, or care(?), that there is so much more on HBOMax . They need to step up their marketing game.

Warner Bros. has no one to blame but themselves. But they thought the HBO name was bigger than the Warner Bros. name. But it fails to let the uniformed realize this is a Warner Bros. app, not just an HBO app with exclusives.

When is the remaining stuff from DC Universe coming over to HBO (Warner Brothers) Max?

Of all the DC Universe original shows, they are all there.

Swamp Thing probably won't get there because it's been cancelled.

Catalog content will probably be hit or miss depending on licensing deals being made.

DC Universe will have shows and films on it until some time in January when they make the switch to "Infinite" so maybe that's when things will get movin'

Our HBO app was already updated to HBO Max when we started our Roku. I clicked it and was already vlogged in (per being logged into HBO prior to that update)

I'm pretty sure Swamp Thing is already on there...

Stuff like BTAS and Justice League are a huge deal. It makes me wonder if they're saving it for a big announcement or if they're going to cheap out and license it elsewhere. With the way they sold off Crunchyroll despite using it for content, I'm not sure (I also wonder when those will be leaving).

No it’s not there. It’s currently on the ad supported CW app since it’s airing there. Who knows it could go to HBO Max once the CW deal expires

Was it on there and they removed it? Or maybe this article was just incorrect (I didn't bother looking before because I had DC Universe)

https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/...remiere-dates/

The launch of HBO Max almost always seemed like a death sentence for the DC Comics-centric streaming service, DC Universe. Things became official last month when DC and WarnerMedia announced that DC Universe was being turned into DC Universe Infinite, a service strictly for digital comics, and that all previous originals would be making their way to HBO Max. Harley Quinn, Doom Patrol, and Swamp Thing are already streaming on the HBO service, and they'll soon be joined by Titans, Young Justice: Outsiders, and Stargirl.

While HBO Max hasn't yet made an official announcement about the premiere date of these former DC Universe originals, they have all appeared on the service's "Coming Soon" section, with release dates attached. According to the new list on HBO Max, both Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders will be added on November 1st. Stargirl, which aired on both DC Universe and The CW, will arrive on December 1st.

That article is wrong or just made an assumption. I’ve had HBO Max since day 1 and it was never there.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

When I installed the app this afternoon, it did have a few hiccups. It did crash a few times and exited out of the app. But, now it seems to be working okay.

Roku is my preferred streaming device, but I do also have an Apple TV 4K hooked up to an HDMI switch on the same TV and that's how I've been watching HBO Max before since it launched.

Does it currently have much 4k content or is that just for the big movies like WW84? If there's 4k content now, how's it look?
