I have never once used a watch together or watch party or whatever they're supposed to be. I don't get it, nor know what it's purpose is for.

Netflix and Disney + also has this feature.
I assume for you and most here it's not very practical. The first challenge is finding someone who would actually have the time to participate.

A watch party is for you and maybe a few friends or family members to watch a movie at the same time. It syncs the movie to play at the exact same time. I think there's chat function for the participants to chat while the movie is playing.
Netflix and Disney + also has this feature.

DirecTV has now joined Movies Anywhere.
Edit: I get it. If you purchase on demand movies on DirecTV, and it's a MA title, it will be added to your MA locker. Nothing to do with it playing on your DirecTV receiver.

So for the few who have DirecTV here, you can also watch your MA titles on your DirecTV receiver. The titles are in your purchases folder.

Also, by connecting my DirecTV account, I was able to choose a free movie from about 10 different titles. Not a great list, but free is free. I picked The Matrix. Don't remember what all the others were. Lego2 and a couple other animated ones were on there.

MA is currently doing a promotion coinciding with the DirecTV deal in that you'll get a free movie if you connect any retailer for the first time. It doesn't have to be DirecTV. I don't have that service, but never connected my Microsoft account. I just did and instantly received an email saying I get a free movie.
Eligible movies: Smallfoot, LEGO Movie 2, Crazy Rich Asians, The Meg, and The Matrix.

I mentioned the DirecTV MA link promotion a few posts above. It worked fine and my MA library is linked to my receiver.

As luck would have it, I just set up a new DVR from Xfinity so I had my account info handy and had never connected it to MA. After flipping a coin between The Meg and Smallfoot, I was offered a 4K upgrade for Crazy Rich Asians and went with that.

I guess I missed this, but iTunes now carries Disney movies in 4k. I spot checked a few of mine (that I bought in 4k at other retailers) and they show as 4k on iTunes.

Yep, they sent an e-mail out awhile back about Disney HD movies being upgraded to 4k.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion
Figured this was as good a place as any to ask this : I noted in a current "Mix & Match 2 for $9.99" sale on VUDU that L..A. Confidential was included with a bunch of 20th Century Fox titles. I clicked on the description and it's being listed as from 20th Century Fox. I know for a fact it's a Warner Brothers movie - - it was one of my very first DVDs purchased along with Boogie Nights - both were in Snapper cases, which were only used by WB/New Line. How did the rights for this relatively recent, high-profile Oscar winning title switch studios?

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion
It’s from Regency, who started distributing their new movies with Fox a few years ago and they got the video rights to their other movies. Sucks because being a purist I want the Warner Bros opening and closings left in, but they’re removed on new transfers.
