Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

Movies Anywhere’s new Screen Pass feature will let you loan your digital movies to friends

https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/17/2...movies-friends

With Screen Pass, Movies Anywhere users will be able to share up to three films per month, giving temporary access to the recipient. Users will have seven days to accept the offer, which will give them access to the film for 14 days. Once started, recipients will have 72 hours to finish the film. The three-share limit resets on the first of every month, letting you share more films. (Unused passes won’t roll over.)There are no limits as to how many times you can share a film or who you can share it to — meaning, unlike lending someone your prized Mad Max: Fury Road Blu-ray, you can share a copy of the film with three friends in the same month, while still being able to watch it yourself. The only thing recipients will need is a Movies Anywhere account.

You won’t be able to share every movie that’s in the Movies Anywhere catalog, though. At least for now, over 6,000 titles will be eligible during the beta period, which the company says is roughly 80 percent of the movies available through the service. Which movies are eligible for Screen Pass is determined by the studios; some companies may prefer to restrict newer releases, for example. The other major limitation is that Movies Anywhere still doesn’t have any films from Paramount, Lionsgate, or MGM, the three major studios that aren’t part of the service, so you won’t be able to share John Wick or The Princess Bride, even if you own them digitally.

The feature is launching later today in a closed beta starting at 1PM ET / 10AM PT, with a broader open beta planned for May. But even if you don’t manage to make it into the betas, all users will be able to receive and watch Screen Pass-shared movies once the test starts. The full launch for Screen Pass is planned for later this year.

Since my parents wouldn't otherwise use this at all, I have their Roku logged into my account.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

My Fandango Now account has been disconnected from my MA and every time I go through the process of reconnecting it, it says Great News, You Are Already Connected, but MA says I am not. I reached out to FN and they were no help at all. Anyone have any thoughts on how I can actually fix this? Doesn’t look like MA has a contact email to help.

MA has a live chat in the contact us area. Not sure they are open now.

Really? I couldn’t even find a Contact Us area, just unhelpful FAQs. Will look again later today. Thanks

I have the same problem from time to time. Try to Disconnect/Reconnect using the Fandango Now site instead of at MA. It never works properly when I use the MA site. Go here under My Account. It might take two times, but it'll work eventually.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

Edit: I see TBD beat me.

Where are you trying to connect, which site?
You can try these options, if you haven't tried yet.
If you haven't try signing out/in of both sites too.

Option 1 - go to https://www.fandangonow.com/settings click the My Account drop down.
Scroll down, view your status of MA.
If it says you're connected here, try disconnecting. I'd wait a solid hour or more before trying to relink. I would try to relink from FandangoNow.
If it says you're not linked, try linking from here (if you haven't from here yet).

Option 2 - go to https://moviesanywhere.com/settings/connect
Does it show linked or unlinked for FN?
If it shows linked, try to unlink. Then go to FN to try and relink (again wait an hour after unlinking).
If it says unlinked to FN, I would still only try linking from FN, but if that didn't work, you can try it on MA

There is also something I've heard, if you try to link unsuccessfully so many times they lock you out for 24 hours and you have to wait until you can link again.

I got stuck once before too. I can't remember which retailer I contacted, but they said they had to contact the other team to fix it.
The MA Chat is at the bottom: https://help.moviesanywhere.com/hc/e...ovies-Anywhere

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

I bought Little Women on Vudu but didn’t get the free-movie Offee because it wasn’t showing up in MA. I disconnected and reconnected my MA/Vudu, and then Little Women showed up, as did the single components of Vudu sets I’d bought (Matrix, Kubrick). A couple days later I received the LW offer so yay, I guess.

Well that's interesting. I may have to try that out. I hate the way so many are bundled.

I find it really hit and miss. My Hostel bundle traveled to MA but others did not.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

Screen Pass Beta is live today. At least it is for me.

Not every title is eligible, but a lot are. They have a page for you to see which are.

Comparing the two, recent films (The Hunt, The Invisible Man, Greta, Bloodshot) aren't. Neither are Disney titles (but Touchstone ones are).

I got this as well, but I have no idea what the hell it’s for, other than I guess letting people watch your movies.

Yeah, lending catalog movies to your friends and coworkers. Up to three a month.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

Is anyone interested in sharing unused Screen Passes? I doubt I'll use all 3 every month. Maybe we should start a thread to give away unused passes.

Not a bad idea. I’m in since I’ll never use this.

That's a cool idea. I probably won't use this for friends and family right away. Is there a way to show people all of your titles without giving them access to your account? (Besides making a 3rd party spreadsheet.)

How about if anyone wants to watch a particular Screen Pass movie (you can see which popular ones are available on the app) , they ask here if anyone has it and they can send them the invite?

I gave my first invite to the old lady who works at the hospital cafeteria. She's a big movie Buff, loves Denzel, interested in his son as an actor. Has never seen BlacKkKlansman. I sent her a link to watch it.
