Except not all UV titles support D2D.

Note how this original press release for Vudu D2D calls out the partnership with the various studios, not with UV, for the new feature:

Walmart, in partnership with the major Hollywood studios: Paramount Home Media Distribution, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment....

But can you name a D2D title that isn't UV? Hence it being tied to UV.

It's currently associated with UV, but I don't agree that it's "tied" to UV in a way that would prevent D2D to continue working with MA if UV went away.

If UV goes away, I'd hope they'd switch to MA for D2D/M2D. Just like I'd hope they improve all of my opinion list where I feel UV is still ahead.

My concern is that if/when UV goes away, so does D2D/M2D. Either completely or for the UV titles that are not MA.

There are actually about 60 titles that are D2D eligibile, but not UV. For example:

The Dark Crystal
The Devil's Rejects
Insidious: The Last Key
Sex Drive (Unrated)
Titanic (1997)

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

Just like I hoped FandangoNOW would be dual ecosystem in and out for all dual ecosystem titles. And my hopes were not realized as FN is UV/MA in but only MA out.

I also hoped that the highest owned resolution would be honored by every retailer that offers multiple resolutions. Yet FN, at this time, is downgrading titles owned in higher res formally at FN with a lower res coming in from MA if MA had the lower res even if the title was higher (per UV or direct purchase at FN) previously at FN.

Lots of opportunities for improvement that I hope will occur. Unfortunately while they can do something they are not in any way obligated to do it.

Will do. Thanks.

Does this also list MA exclusive titles?

It looks like Insidious: The Last Key is D2D, MA, but not UV:
https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...s/title/908875

It's a Sony title, but the Blu-ray/DVD is not due out until 4/3, so it's possible it just maybe doesn't have the UV branding on it yet.

Justice League was showing MA only in some places before release and then at release showed MA and UV.

The Dark Crystal and The Devil's Rejects are both listed as UV on my account. I don't have the others to cross -reference. I'm guessing that this is an example of movies that were UV when entered into D2D.

Edit: I also see TV titles on that list. I'd love to have someone show me they can do TV seasons via D2D.

I just tried to do D2D on it, but it doesn't work.

Are you sure you don't own The Devil's Rejects (Unrated) ? Because that's UV, while the rated version linked to in that Google Sheet isn't UV:

https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...-Unrated-/6929
https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...s/title/601750

For The Dark Crystal, there's a listing with both UV & MA, but the sheet links to one without either. That page states is a Warner Brothers title though.

https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/details/title/14591
https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...Crystal/136283

If you look at the different covers, and then search for "The Dark Crystal" on Vudu's D2D search page, 3 listings come up, one of which is clearly the "WB" listing. I don't know what retail disc would actually activate on it though:
https://www.vudu.com/content/in_home...o_digital.html

The Counselor (Unrated Extended Cut) shows up as only MA on Vudu, and is D2D compatible:
https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...ed-Cut-/507394

Interestingly, the Blu-ray for The Counselor (Unrated Extended Cut) comes with a UV code:
https://smile.amazon.com/Counselor-U...dp/B00HF98SY4/

FandangoNow seems to consider it an MA only title now too:

FandangoNOW considers all UV/MA titles only MA now.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

According to VUDU's UV linking page, UV is required "to watch" D2D titles.

That's because they're currently tied to your UV account, not to your Vudu account. It's the same as if you activated any digital copy codes on Vudu.

I could probably unlink UV and still watch Citizen Kane, because it's also tied to my MA account, which would still be linked.

There's nothing about D2D that's inherently UV. Studios relied on UV when they implemented D2D, because they were UV supporters at the time. But there's nothing about D2D that prevents it from working with MA, or to stop studios from continuing with D2D if UV support ever completely goes away.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

With this new program... if you use the Movies Anywhere code for a Disney movie, does it also redeem the points? Or can they be used as two separate redeems? i.e. If I wanted to sell the code for the movie but redeem the points. I know you previously couldn't with DMA when they changed the rules.

Yes it’s separate. Points at Disney Movie Rewards. Movie at MA.
If you wanted to redeem both, each will give you a link after you redeem pointing to the other service. MA to DMR or DMR to MA.

I see. Thanks. So they went back to the way they used to do it?

Yeah I thought they were completely ditching DMR and using MA only.

Re: Movies Anywhere - News, Rumors & Discussion

I think you're confusing DisneyMoviesAnywhere with DisneyMovieReward. Disney Movies Anywhere got replaced with Movies Anywhere, but DisneyMovieRewards, which was for points and rewards, was separate and stayed separate. I think the only change that happened with regard to Rewards is that digital purchases no longer gave you points.

Even though I do not have a 4K TV yet. I did buy some 4K Blu-rays on BF. I'm wondering where I should redeem the 4K code of Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy 2 at. Which one would port over to the other streaming services? I read when this title was first released it would not give you UHD when you redeemed on Vudu.
