Re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch

One thing I might do before Christmas is watch The Santa Claus trilogy since it's on here. I never picked it up on physical media, but I did really like the 1st movie (never saw the sequels) That's going to be a fun watch for the Holidays.

I may never have to buy another Disney movie on physical media (with the exception of Star Wars and Marvel) and I definitely don't have to pick up any classic titles either.

We enjoyed 2 and have watched it almost as much as the first movie. While we bought 3 many years as it came with the BR set, we have yet to watch it as we didn't like it hardly at all when we saw it theaters when it opened.

Well, Hulu has ZERO to worry about. They're owned by Disney.

Yeah I'm seriously considering cancelling Netflix at this point. I hardly watch it anymore except for the Star Trek shows but those are on Amazon Prime. I can always rejoin for stuff like Stranger Things.

There were a number of Disney titles I'd been watching the prices on digital copies... No need anymore (or at least for the next 3 years.)

Re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch

Netflix could be in huge trouble, I keep looking for stuff to watch over there, but it's getting tougher, there new stuff generally stinks imho... I'd like to go to a 2 months on 2 months off strategy, but I need to get buy in from my daughters who still use it a lot still.. I did purchase Friends on Vudu that I was planning to surprise with them on Christmas, so maybe that will be enough of a nudge to just get Netflix for half the year... $15 a month for this service (4 person plan) seems way too much right now.

This D+ list should be enough to keep us all busy for awhile as an alternative

3 1/2 hour trailer to promote every single release for Disney Plus on November 12th.

You read that right. 3 and a half hours.

I know none of you are going to watch it, but it does exist in case you really really want to see it

and yea this trailer is longer than Endgame.

Any mention of a director’s cut or bonus disc for this?

They should get their app up on Nov. 1 and run this until the 12th.

Been wondering who put that together, no way am I going to have time to watch all of it. Here's to hoping the app doesn't suck, like Netflix does now!

Have they announced how many streams would be permitted per account?

I watched it at 2x speed just to get an idea. This is going to be great to see a lot of the live action movies I enjoyed as a kid.

I couldn't help but notice among all the remastered goodness a couple of films that look like they are in rough shape. Not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination (I've already subscribed to the three-year deal), but noticeably soft, blurry or scratchy film transfers. For example:

10:47 Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959)
13:45 The Prince and The Pauper (1962)
21:25 Herbie Rides Again (1974)
26:18 Candleshoe (1977)
28:54 Sultan and The Rock Star (1980)

I didn't get past 1981 in the trailer due to it being so much content to preview. I'm going to enjoy all of it regardless, just surprised that some of their examples are a little less than pristine.

I don’t think I’ll be committing to the service long term at this point. I’ll likely just get it to watch The Mandalorian while it’s on and cut it off afterwards or until the next thing I want to watch starts. There’s a lot of content available, but I’m not sure how much I’ll really watch.

Can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait.

And since it will be available through the Play Store, I can use my $40 in Google Surveys virtual money to get the almost first six months for free, plus the trial period. My ongoing surveys won't cover it all but it will give significant discounts.

The original The Jungle Book, Lady and the Tramp, Bambi, The Aristocats, and Alice in Wonderland will be watched first. Then the Marvels I missed (Captain Marvel first and foremost), Maleficent, etc.

The toddler can watch it whenever I'm not using it.

Thank you for posting those examples, very helpful to be able to jump to those spots. You're right, less than pristine. However I noticed a couple of spots that it looks like some of those scenes are from trailers. I know they aren't big on remastering the trailers, so I guess we can hope they just added trailer scenes and not parts of the movies themselves. I have the Candleshoe blu ray and it looks quite good, so I'm guessing they'll use that transfer. And I really want to watch the Herbie movies again, hopefully looking clean. We'll know soon enough.

https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/sadl...ecause-of-drm/

Disney + won't be compatible with Chromebooks, Linux and some Android Devices because of DRM.

Apparently they are trying to fight piracy on their content.
