re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch

I checked on my phone browser when I was waiting for the offer to pop up. It never came up on my phone, but it came up on my laptop browser. Looks like their site isn't mobile friendly.

I signed up to D23 yesterday and the deal showed up the next time I checked the account a few hours later. I went ahead and signed up, can't beat this price.

I'm breaking off any (and minimal) ESPN+ talk. That has been moved here: https://forum.dvdtalk.com/streaming-...g-service.html

I guess I'm the only one that's holding off. I own the SW, Marvel and Disney movies i like. The upcoming Marvel stuff is going to take a while to show up. Plus hoping they'll find a way to make nice with Amazon so it will be included on the Fire Stick eventually.

It will be on the Amazon products eventually, Amazon is a huge platform.

Google went to war with amazon for a while, though. Youtube hasn't been officially on Fire products until pretty recently. We'll see.

I signed up for D23, waiting for the Disney+ offer. I was going to get it at the $7 price point, so $4 is a treat. It's 3 years, which I normally wouldn't do, but I've seen enough to think I'll be entertained that long. I also have two young kids who will likely be interested.

I noticed that Amazon Prime added Google Chromecast support so maybe there was some sort of deal worked out.

One would think cooler heads will prevail. If not, I would imagine my smart TV could get the app.

I have fire sticks all over the house so this is kind of annoying, I'll fire up the PS4 in the family room, my daughters will probably watch this on their ipads... I guess I might keep an eye out for an apple tv or a roku for black friday if they don't get this fire stick app on-board

I imagine the iPad/iPhone apps will be able to cast- Airplay and probably Chromecast (it's on Android devices) so if your TV can handle either of those 2 formats you're in luck.

I think Netflix will be just fine...as will Amazon - they've both been around long enough and have enough popular shows that people aren't going to ditch them. But I think Apple TV may be DOA.

I do think Netflix will be ok, but even without this particular deal, Disney+ is aggressively priced and Disney content is/was a major part of their portfolio. Anecdotally, unless they implement some kind of annual discount or something I'm probably going to drop it for months at a time because my kids are a large reason I keep the sub year round.

That said, the separation of content between Hulu and Disney+ due to age rating gives Netflix some advantage for people without kids and the few who have no interest in any of the Disney products.
