Re: Disney+ streaming service

Gotta be honest, I really wanna use the Disney+ GroupWatch thingy. But alas, being a Dude...I had said to a Marvel Friend that i wanted to watch the WandaVision finale on GrouptWatch when i got to it so he could explain things and he acted like I asked him to "Netflix and Chill".

Darn! Our movie wasn't good enough to further rip off the working class. Back in the 70's and 80's, stuff like that would of been a freebie on The Wonderful World Of Disney or a $3 rental at Blockbuster.

I'm only now finding Encore! and I really enjoy it. I'm a big Godspell fan and was a high school theater person and as I work my way through episodes this week I appreciate this show for what's doing a lot

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Disney and Sony have reached a multi-year deal for the post-pay-1 release window, a pact that will make Spider-Man and other major franchises eligible to stream on Disney+ for the first time.

The flagship streaming service and Hulu are among many platforms covered by the agreement, which the official announcement called “unprecedented.” A host of platforms under the Disney tent are involved, including ABC, FX, Freeform. No specific plans for Disney+ have yet been finalized, but Marvel fans had been wondering when Spidey and others would appear alongside the rest of the streaming stable. For complicated legal reasons, the franchise has not been a full-fledged member of the Disney-controlled Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Theatrical releases from 2022 to 2026 will move to Disney after their runs on Netflix, which earlier this month announced a deal with Sony for a pay-1 exclusive as well as co-production rights to direct-to-streaming films.

Financial terms were not disclosed in the release and the companies to declined to comment on any dollar figures. A person familiar with the pact estimated the total combined value of the Netflix and Disney deals at more than $3 billion.

Library rights to franchises like Spider-Man, Jumanji, Hotel Transylvania and others are part of the package.

The official announcement said the deal “gives Disney enormous programming potential across its platforms and makes them key destinations for a robust collection of Spider-Man films.” Hulu will also get a “significant number” of library titles beginning as early as June.

Linear networks joining the new deal include ABC, Disney Channels, Freeform, FX and National Geographic. FX and Sony had been in business for years and the overall Disney agreement succeeds a prior “post-pay-1” deal with FX. Universal, another key supplier to FX, recently ended its long-term relationship with FX, so the ongoing supply of Sony titles is a boost for the widely distributed pay-TV network.

“This landmark multi-year, platform agnostic agreement guarantees the team at Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution a tremendous amount of flexibility and breadth of programming possibilities to leverage Sony’s rich slate of award-winning action and family films across our direct-to-consumer services and linear channels,” said Chuck Saftler, head of Business Operations for ABC, Freeform, FX Networks, and Acquisitions in DMED’s Networks division. Saftler, a key architect of FX’s movie slate deals, played a key role in the negotiations. “This is a win for fans, who will benefit from the ability to access the very best content from two of Hollywood’s most prolific studios across a multitude of viewing platforms and experiences.”

Re: Disney+ streaming service

So theaters to Netflix (for 18 months) to Disney afterwards.

Yeah that's not going to confuse anyone. But good on Sony for really milking their content with two separate deals.

I really enjoyed Encore! I don't know if we'll ever get a second season though. I would be ecstatic if they did.

Getting a win by not creating a streaming service.

I still have no clue what they're going to do with Crunchyroll once they finally get it. Run two anime services?

I don't know if its a movie or some type of tv special but Muppets Haunted Mansion is coming to Disney Plus in the fall. The Muppets haven't done anything related to Halloween before.

Muppets Haunted Mansion is a Halloween special (Gonzo has to spend the night in the mansion) - look for cameos from celebs, musical numbers, etc.

Yup. They did sell the majority stake.

They still have some involvement.

I'll assume The Rock is one of those cameos since Pepe is wearing the same outfit as The Rock's infamous "90's butch" outfit.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

On May 7 they finally added Wander Over Yonder.

But the big release comes on May 28. No, not Cruella on Premiere access. Bluey season 2 will finally be on the service. You have no idea how excited my kids are.

For those who love Bluey, the second season has been on DisneyNow for a while. Weird they did it that way, but me and my kids plowed through it a while back.

It's because the second season airs on Disney Jr., and Now has an archive of Disney Jr. stuff. Does it have all of it, though? I just remember back when we had to use it the interface was terrible. I think you also have to have cable service with Disney Jr.

We DVR Bluey anyway, but being able to have the whole season there to stream on demand in an easy to access app with no commercials is something else. First world problems, I know.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

They rotate them, but have had all of them on DisneyNow, if the IMDb listing is correct. But I agree, I’d prefer having them on D+ available at the same time.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

That kinda sucks, as that was something I looked forward to on Fridays. I guess now I can have something to enjoy during the week and watch the short shows on weeknights and have more time for movies on weekends.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

No one cares when stuff drops on streaming. Unless you're concerned about spoilers crossing your social media feeds or really need to be "in the discussion" right away.
