No offense dude, I'm sure you're intentions were well. But, if you're paying for DC Universe why would you want to buy Shazam for $37 when you're already a subscriber and it comes out tomorrow?

Not everyone checking this thread is a subscriber yet. If I see a good deal to own a DC title, I'll probably jump on it.

Re: DC Universe streaming service

Fwiw, I think that so far, Doom Patrol is the best show on television. Three fantastic episodes with some great world and character building to set things up for much more potential. Just Titans and DP have made my ~$5 a month investment very worthwhile so far.

I wasn’t expecting much. I’m familiar with the Doom Patrol comics, have read odd issues over the decades. Knew they had a rabid fan base, both the old stuff and the Grant Morrison run, but just didn’t think it was a good choice for the DCU. Would have bet on not liking it at all, and it bombing. Jury might still be out on whether it bombs, but damn do I love this show.

Yup, Doom Patrol is awesome so far.

The only DC Universe original I haven't gotten into is Young Justice season 3. I only watched a handful of the original 2 seasons and I feel like I need to watch those 1st before I take on season 3.

I'm looking forward to seeing Swamp Thing this summer as well.

Heck, I bought BTAS on Blu-ray right before subscribing to this. And I love BTAS, but I totally regret buying it because I'm not going to even open it up anytime soon.

Yeah I have that set too and it's a great set with really good content, but all the seasons are now on DC Universe and in HD and it's so much easier just to fire up the app than turn on the BD player and pop the discs in.

But, I try to tell myself that I spent good money on the set and if I feel like watching BTAS, I should use the discs.

It came out on DVD via Warner Archive a few years back. What I would love to see is the 1981 Captain Marvel cartoon, which has basically disappeared due to rights issues. It never made it out on DVD or home video.

What are the rights issues with the 1981 animated series? The Captain Marvel name?

Re: DC Universe streaming service

They also have Marvel's Fantastic Four animated(1967) but that also has never made it to dvd or home video(as far as I know).

Hanna Barbara produced it and like Batman tv series(produced by Fox) those two got mixed up along the way in the crazy 1960s.

I think Marvel couldn't get anyone else too do the animation so they decided to go along with the enemy owner of DC Comics.

I don't thing HB was owned by WB at the time they did that show.

There's a lot of stuff that never made it on home media, at least on wide release, especially kids shows. It's a minor miracle that YJ and Batman Brave and the Bold had season releases, and those are way way more recent. Heck, the Legion cartoon that's on this service never had a proper release.

Warner didnít even own DC until sometime in the 70s, I think.

Re: DC Universe streaming service

I will look it up(I do suffer from memory loss).

UPDATE: Since 1967.

The second sentence at Wikipedia concerning DC Comics:
It is the publishing unit of DC Entertainment ,a subsidiary of Warner Brothers since 1967.

The Shazam! Saturday morning cartoon was a Filmation product and was mingled with Isis in "The Shazam!/Isis" Hour . It's believed that DreamWorks currently owns those rights for Isis. Correcting something earlier I said, it does appear that three episodes of the cartoon made it out many years ago on VHS.

AFAIK, the Shazam cartoon has never been rebroadcast or shown on a digital service provider since it's first-run syndication ended in the 1980s. It's been MIA for many years and DC has never once mentioned the series. Episodes have shown up on YouTube by fans. I was hoping this Shazam movie would bring the show back in some legal form.

It's suspicious that a highly visible celebrity athlete decided to gush over Titans right before it goes live on other streaming services for purchase. I know this is how the game works for social media influencers - they get paid to mention products and/or services on social media.

Or maybe Serena thinks she's Starfire, I don't know.

It is kind of amazing to me that they don't have an app for any of the consoles yet.

First episodes of their originals are now free to stream:

I realize if you're reading this post in this thread it probably means you've already subscribed, but that's still pretty cool.

ImI starting to watch the DC Daily show. I realize that for most people starting at the beginning means old news, but a lot of it is news to me.

Re: DC Universe streaming service

DC Daily recently revamped their show. Not really liking the change. They nixed starting the show with headlines/news and have started it out as a discussion based show. The headlines are inserted in now as graphics.

Also, Tiffany Smith, who was the main host, has been away for several weeks now because she's in Canada filming a Lifetime TV movie.
