That's very interesting, but wouldn't they have to change the name of the platform?

Merging UV and DMA may be good. However, it'd be a mess if Warner abandoned UV for DMA.

The advantage of DMA is that Disney has managed to leverage its catalog to force the various digital media retailers (Amazon, iTunes, Google Play) to actually accept the platform on their services, allowing you to play a Disney title across services and not be locked into one. Theoretically, any other studio could've tried and force them to do the same with UV titles, but it hasn't happened.

They could just drop the "Disney" from it, call it "Movies Anywhere".

I just hope that if there is some sort of merging or transitioning, that DMA would make sure that all the retailers of both DMA and UV are accepted.

Speaking of DMA, did anyone else have trouble entering the code for Star Wars Force Awakens? It apparently took my code and gave me 150 points, but I can't see the digital version anywhere.

No, mine worked fine. It appears in Vudu, Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, etc.

Can you watch it on the DMA site? This is a code from the Blu-ray, yes? The DVD-only version doesn't come with a digital code, but may come with a code for points.

I wish Touchstone and Dreamworks would join UV.

Yes, BD code. No, can't see it to view on any of the sites including DMA, but it shows up in my point history. Time to start a support ticket I guess, not that I'll likely watch it again, but its the principle....

Maybe try un-linking then re-linking your DMR from Vudu.

That's probably a good idea, but it doesn't even show up in my DMA, while films I entered immediately before and after do. It's like Disney knows I criticized the film and doesn't think I deserve access.

Ha! Maybe they do have it in for you. How do you access your DMR movies? Try downloading the Disney Movies Anywhere app to your phone. You can go to the Connect Accounts page there and try doing it that way.

Have you tried calling DMA customer service? I haven't needed to call them, but I've heard they are very helpful.

You have a houseful of tweens over for a birthday party, and you can't play the movie you promised them?

Re: Studios to Join Disney Movies Anywhere?

VUDU recently sent me this:

Dear Michael,

A recent policy update from Disney changes the way Disney Movies Anywhere accounts are linked. Rather than renewing from your Vudu account, you will now need to renew your link from your Disney Movies Anywhere account.

To keep all your Disney titles viewable from your Vudu account, we recommend you take a brief moment to renew your Disney Movies Anywhere link to Vudu and maximize the two-year renewal period.

You can renew your link to Vudu, here.

Thanks for your understanding,

The Vudu Team

I don't think that has anything to do with this rumor.
