The CW app -- Now on most platforms

http://cwtv.com/notify-me For those unaware, The CW did not renew it's deal with Hulu. They signed a new deal with Netflix which conflicted with it. The CW app/website is ad supported. They will probably carry the last 5 episodes. I am glad to see it being available on The Roku. |
re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
I'll have to download this for when my DVR doesn't record some episodes. I wonder if this will have fewer commercials than Xfinity on demand?

re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
I wish they'd offer a premium service with full seasons and no commercials.

re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Suh-weet. I was worried that I may have to add DVR to my cable package to keep up with the DC shows.

CW didn't want to give full season rights to Hulu during the season. Only the last 5 episodes. |
re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Is iZombie Season 2 available anywhere yet?

Has anyone been able to add this to their roku? I searched on my roku and on the roku website and have been unable to find it.

The thread title says "starting 9/26/16". So maybe next week. |

re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Yeah the graphic was posted that way, but all the CW show Facebook pages said "Starting Next Week"
Most of the CW shows don't start until the 1st week of October anyways. |
re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Hmmm, I guess "everywhere" doesn't include Playstation?

The CW Network channel is now available on the Roku:

re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
I watched an episode of LoT to find out if it was worth using.
The video quality looked fine. I'd say it was as good as HD Cable. The audio was only 2.0 stereo. The episode took about 50 minutes to watch. So that's around 9-10 minutes of commercials. There was a 30-second ad before the episode started. And there were 5 breaks throughout the show. Each ran around 90-seconds to 2-mins. The breaks were in the proper place. There was a decent mix of commercials. A few of them played 3-4 times throughout the episode. But it wasn't annoying. Some services play the same 2-3 commercials over and over again. Overall, the commercials didn't bother me too much. The breaks were definitely shorter than watching on regular TV. Obviously I'd prefer a commercial-free option. But given the available choices (regular TV or paying $40-$50 at Vudu), this seems like the best option. |

Yeah nice to have fallback if there is a recording issue. I think I paid for a flash episode on Amazon last year when I had an issue.

re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Yeah, the CW App is pretty decent for the XB1...I had used it previously for episodes of Whose Line and the last 5 episodes are now popping in Arrow, Flash, etc...so I will be visiting it more often come next week when these shows officially return. Also, the subtitles are pretty good. Not too big, not too small either. I have to have subs on almost everything since my 1 year old usually sits on my lap and makes noise whether happy or sad. :)

CW content (full seasons) will likely head to the Warner Bros. Streaming service. The deal with Netflix expires this Spring. So if you're behind on Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash, Legends, Supergirl, iZombie, you might be screwed this summer for catching up. The CW app is only good for the last 5 episodes that aired. |
re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Shit. Netflix was my "Arrow DVR" since I stopped watching it "live" a couple seasons ago. This is when I wonder why the DC Universe app doesn't just get CW DC shows...

Re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
Welp I guess with this Netflix news I’ll never get caught up on Supergirl, Directv here took The CW off their service. at least I’m caught up on Flash and will likely stay within the five ep buffer. |

All episodes of the new CW shows Batwoman, Katy Keene and Nancy Drew will be available on The CW app during the 2019-20 season. Meaning that it won't be just the "Last 5 episodes" Keep in mind, this is "In-Season" only. After the season wraps in May or earlier, Batwoman and Katy Keene will move to HBO Max and Nancy Drew will move to CBS All-Access. |
Re: The CW app -- Now on most platforms
The CW app also got off-season streaming rights to Schitts Creek. It should be there now, so if you don't have Netflix, check it out. The show is hilarious.
