I think I will wait until this is available from a Roku app in 2017 as the only films I watch on my 20 inch comp screen are comedies or other type of films where the visuals are of less or almost no importance. 7$ actually is not a bad deal even if it's a rotating selection of their movies as Kino's catalogue isn't that far behind Criterion and when it comes to Silent Films or Modern Foreign Films might be ahead of Criterion.

This sounds good, but the rotating in and out and the price don't make it sound very appealing, I have to say. I liked it better when they were folded into one of the big three. I'm debating whether or not this is worth it...

I have an Amazon Fire Stick, so that'll work in watching films on the TV.

While the price is pretty good, not having a Roku, AppleTV or any console apps at launch is not good.

The best time to grab subscribers is at launch and once people see they can't watch anything on their TVs, unless they buy the firestick, it will be out of sight out of mind when the other apps do launch.

I thought the AppleTV app was part of the beta which makes it weird that won't be available at launch.

You can still AirPlay it to an AppleTv if you have an iPhone/iPad or Chromecast it if you have an Android device.

I'll wait for it come to Roku as well as that provides time to get any kinks out of the service and see what titles they do offer and how long they're available.

Price-wise, for me personally, I think the $6.99 basic price is outstanding: $1 less than my current Hulu subscription and $3 less than my Netflix. Even without knowing the specific titles now, I can almost guarantee I'll find plenty more to watch on Filmstruck than I do now on either one of those two as I'm an avid TCM and classic movie fan.

One question: as it sounds as if Warner Bros. will be part of this, I wonder how it will affect their Instant Archive service? I have a subscription to that as well and am curious if that will go bye-bye soon.

Just got an email from Filmstruck saying that it's been delayed until November. They say it's going well but need that extra time to make sure everything will run and transition as easy and seamless as possible.

Yeah the Apple Tv app comes out next month which would be my preferred way to watch it. My computer in my gameroom is close to my tv so I just watch it through HDMI on my tv for now.

I signed up for the beta test when it was originally announced. They extended all beta memberships until the end of the year.

I don't have an Apple TV but do have a new Mac Mini. I may just buy a long HDMI cable and run it from the Mini to my home theater. Have we gotten confirmation that programming would be in 5.1 when available or is this straight 2.0 programming?

I'll have to rescind my last comment about watching via computer hooked to TV, as I've seen a few rather impressive presentations from mine recently. Watching things through a web browser still isn't perfect but it's definitely getting better; support for Dolby 5.1 is slowly coming and I've actually seen some good-looking high frame rate YouTube videos which blew me away at how good they looked. I've found those only play via Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge; if you play them through Firefox they still look like crap.

I was going to switch my default browser to Edge after that, but it's still too damn user-unfriendly so I'm using Chrome as a compromise, switching to Edge only for the few things that use these sound capabilities.

Or, I may just get an Apple TV and forget running a long ass cable through the house. That, and I'm also out of HDMI slots in my home theater, therefore, I may just buy a quality HDMI splitter.

My $1,200 HDTV only has two HDMI ports. This isn't quite a first world problem of the magnitude of my Blu-ray player not streaming HBO Go, but it's close.

My TV has 4 HDMI inputs, but I only use two of them- and it'd be one if my receiver could pass a 3D signal. I use the front HDMI input on my receiver for my computer and all streaming devices I have- I have a "long-ass cable" going to the computer which gets switched with the Roku when I'm using that. Who's afraid of a little cable swapping? ;)
