If I convert a Blu-ray disc to digital, would I also get the SD version if I purchase the HDX version?

Edit: Just want to confirm that you do receive the HD and SD versions.

I saw people commenting on Google+ that they are going to buy vudu credits. Is it cheaper to buy credits somewhere or something? I thought you could just use a credit card?

There are a lot of places that give out promotional credit to Vudu. There were $5 Vudu Credits on Wal-Mart's take & bake pizzas, Kleenex boxes and video game pre-orders. Lately, T-Mobile has been giving customers a $5.50 Vudu Credit each Tuesday. And I got a $20 Vudu Credit that came with my new TV.

Anyways, people often sell these Vudu Credits for around 50%-60% of face value. So you can buy $5 in Vudu Credit for around $2.50.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

Yup, everything I buy on VUDU (including D2D) is using VUDU credits that I've obtained for about 50-60% of face value.

This is a good place to start:

https://plus.google.com/communities/...08571694253227

Especially the community docs like the FAQ and the Credit Matrix. You need to be especially cognizant of credit expiration dates. I lost something like $25 in credits when I started out, because I didn't realize that promotional credits expired after a while if not used.

The weekly $5.50 T-Mobile credits are a good deal, because people are usually selling them for about $2 by the end of the day on Tuesday.

It will stream at the highest resolution supported by your playback device and internet connection, up to the resolution you purchased (i.e. SD, HDX, or UHD). For example, most movies played in your browser are limited to SD resolution. So, if you purchase a movie in HDX, but play it in your browser, it will stream at SD. If, however, you stream that movie on, say, a Roku, connected to your TV, it will stream at HDX. But if your Internet connection is too slow, it might fall back to HD (720p) or SD resolutions.

Sounds like an Adobe Air issue. It's happened before. You can try contacting them about it, but I doubt they'll do anything. You'll just have to wait for them to do another update.

It's not just you. I'm having the same problem, and so are other people. There are posts about it on other forums. Here's one from the Official Vudu Support Forum:

https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...l-is-blank-now

It seems to be account related. It's occurring on both my desktop and laptop. Each are running different OS, and different versions of Vudu2go and Adobe Air.

Anyways, it sounds like Vudu is aware of the issue and doesn't have a fix yet. Although they haven't made any official announcement.

I'd just give it a break and keep your eyes peeled on the post Big Dave posted. I don't think there's any tricks now that will put it back, at least for now.

But, to not even be able to install the program seems like it might be on my end, no?

Have not used this program in awhile. Still have about 30 dollars credit. After reading the last few messages I decided to see if the program still worked on my computer. It still does but ask me if I want to upgrade to a newer version. I'm going to pass for now.

Over in the official support forum, one of the Vudu engineers just posted:

"We are looking into the blank D2D page issue, and will update V2G soon"

But why would I not even be able to install the program from an older version stored on my PC?

Dude. You'll just have to wait like the rest of us. Except me, I never updated it and it still works. Just found that out a while ago.

So unfortunately I can't use D2D any longer. My antiquated PC won't run the new version. I tried to install the older version of program but no luck. Remind me again what this Google conversion program is all about? Is it legal? Can you link download?

I have been thru the same issues, I've installed it, reinstalled it and messed around with the companion app, Adobe Air to no avail. And that's with the new version, old version.

The Google program you are speaking of is Free2d. Due to politeness of this forum, I won't throw a link up here. Just Google: Free2d. It will be literally the first thing to come up. But, I've played with that too with no help to my Disc to Digital.

As far as legality, it's a gray area. I use it in a legal manner when my discs won't work or my lazy butt doesn't feel like going upstairs to my mancave to grab a disc. But I'm sure plenty of others use it in the other fashion. That's all I'll say here :)

There are a lot of steps involved, and I know your head would implode.

I'm too nice :)...up on the top of the screen to the right should be option to download that Zip file. Then you download that zip file, extract it to your desktop. Go in that directory on your desktop, and run the program.

Then you are having the same issue I am as of two weeks ago (which made me sad since I had done D2D for about 200 titles.) I might end up installing it on my wife's machine or use her old hard drive (which I made into an external) and see if any of that helps. I'm tempted to try CinemaNow's version (which of course doesn't work with Free2d) but nobody seems to really know all the titles that work on there, not even their support team.

More than likely. Haven't you mentioned a few times before you've been having issues with it? May need to see about upgrading.

People do have it up and working...you and me and bunches of others don't. But I think it has zero to do with the users intelligence or "crappy machines". I think there is a serious bug somewhere in their software and they haven't fixed it yet. Most people seem to think its in Adobe AIR somewhere. If you have a second machine, I would give it a roll personally. Otherwise, looks like you are stuck with the rest of us and awaiting a patch of some sort.

I haven't updated Adobe AIR since I first started using Free2D, and I'm obviously using the version of Vudu2Go that is part of the Free2D system (an old version). I uninstalled the newer version that I had previously.

Please figure out your AIR version if you could and I'll go search it out since I'm out of ideas. I think this is honestly the key. Something in AIR is F'ed up since it worked fine before and that's the only thing that changed on mine within the last month. Thank you :)

Every time they've had issues with the program, it's been Adobe Air related. They need a new interface that doesn't use it.

I have the same gut feeling! :)

I would uninstall AIR and Vudu2Go completely, then install both of the older programs again.

Agreed, I'm also tempted to go through the registry prior to reinstalling as well. But first go, we'll rock and roll with the old versions after uninstalling. *fingers crossed....wish I had my laptop with me now, do this at lunchtime*

Nope :(. I ripped it all out of there, Adobe Air, VUDUtoGo, etc. Installation, random files on the disk drive, registry....every little scrap I could find. Reinstalled with the old versions of Air & VUDU. Still same issue with the blank screen/in ability to login, etc. My next step is to go find my wife's old hard drive and boot off of that (it had a working copy of VUDUtoGo) and try that.

Oh by the way, anybody who thinks of giving CinemaNow's D2D service a try...don't waste your time. It's DVD only. Seriously, it will detect your discs just fine (I did The Warriors and Videodrome), but it will say can't do D2D for Blu-ray. What frustrates me is that it already seems to work better than Vudu's service (it detects super easy), but doesn't look like it's been updated in eons(Blu-ray support).

The only reason to use CinemaNow's D2D software is that sometimes it'll accept a disc that Vudu doesn't. You'll have to pay full price ($5 for HD). I've used it a few times for movies I really wanted.
