Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016
The rep you spoke to might be confusing it with the Directv everywhere app. The new Directv Now service hasn't even launched yet and packaging prices haven't even been finalized. I doubt some rep would be able to confirm that right now.

Charter offers their streaming service for free(w/subscription) and don't see why Direct TV would be any different since I am paying them plenty anyways(too many sports packages).
It's just wait and see what happens.

According to Multichannel News.com ,A T & T is planning to allow only one stream per household too prevent cannibalism among current subscribers. Plus it looks like all the major content owners are aboard except for CBS and it questions about Fox.

How much is 3 months service worth? If it tops $100 then screw that - I'll just pay for the apple TV as opposed to getting cable.

Starz to offer 8 of their channels to Directv Now: http://deadline.com/2016/11/starz-ch...ow-1201852386/
Will probably run around $9, no official announcement yet.

Of course there will be add on channels like HBO, Showtime, Starz and Cinemax that you have to pay extra for.
This isn't cable, it's their Internet streaming service without the contract or having a satellite put on your roof.

^ So about $120 give or take the taxes and such. Hmmm, then the pain in the ass to call them up 3 months later to cancel.
I'll take a wait and see approach once it's been officially announced. If it becomes a drag then I'll just scoop one without the channels and an HDMI splitter for extra support.

I forgot where I read this but Directv Now will carry WatchESPN. So call this unconfirmed until their is an official announcement about this and ESPN.
ESPN is not suppose too be able to have the 72 hour window too watch past programming but if they carry WatchESPN usually all their replays are posted for up to a week and you can FF through the commercial breaks(at least w/Roku you can do this).

yeah that's what I'm asking.Watchespn is not a tv channel it's an app that has several channels of mostly live content. I already know this.
I'm not sure then what Dtv will carry. How do they air an app?

You can find the app via Roku, Android or IOS.
It's basically like ESPN's version of Netflix, but is grouping all the key channels together plus a few more. You have to subscribe to a TV package to get access to it. I believe SEC channel and Longhorn network are also grouped in there. As Josh said, they have ESPN 3 and some international sports like Cricket and sometimes sailing shown there.
ESPN uses it to also show some of the smaller conference schools in basketball and football that most people don't care about. Cheaper production value though like public access.

Yeh but know all about the app. Used it for as long as it's been up.
I got the impression that it was going to actually be on my tv the way Dvdforlife posted the info. "Directv Now will carry WatchESPN"
So basically. Never mind.

Still not understanding. Are you saying this will be on the tv through the box?
The app has been on my phone and tablet for a while now using my Dtv credentials.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016
I read an article on another website and they mentioned WatchESPN being on DirecTV Now but so far I haven't seen any official word about it. Until it's announced by DirecTv Now then it's just a rumor.
However,if it does become true then I don't know how Sling TV ,among others, can compete because they are offering a lot less bang for the buck .
There has been no announcement of the official complete channel lineup even though some have already been announced(Starz, etc).

I understand what you are asking. Do you use Roku or Fire TV or anything like that? Basically the channels themselves are individual apps. It would work sort of like that. You would click Watch ESPN through the platform and go from there.
