According to CordCutterNews.com DirectTVNow is sending out an email today to their subscribers informing them of an upcoming cloud DVR. Not interested if it's not free.

We've had DirecTV Now for about 2 months now, and have been very pleased. I need to check my media email account to see if I've gotten a notification about cloud DVR.
Update: I haven’t gotten one, perhaps because we don’t have AT&T phone service?

They now are back tracking at CordCutterNews.com and say that email sent out by DirectTV Now about a cloud DVR was sent in error.

Never thought I 'd ever have direct tv but as a user with an unlimited phone plan - I'm not complaining about a bunch of channels with HBO as additional for 10 bucks a month.
They just added my local fox channel as well - all I need them to do is get NBC as a stream channel and I can get rid of the HD antenna in full.
It does drop out from time to time but I don't care - still well worth the cheap price I'm paying.
For those that are having issues with the direct tv app and the Roku....I'm using the Roku Premier (believe it's the most current one) and have no issues at all.

Why would you want to watch a station through this that you can already get via antenna? When I tried DirecTV now just the glitching (most notably intermittent hiccups in the audio) was a deal-breaker in itself.

Because people don’t watch live tv anymore they record it and watch later and don’t want to buy TiVo so they get cable or Directv.

I also have the direct tv now app thru my unlimited plan on At &T and since they offer free HBO, when I resigned with Comcast Internet, I chose Showtime as my free premium choice. With HBO and SHOWTIME and 60 channels including locals and 75 MBPS internet for a total cost of 85.99, I can't complain. I also watch Direct Tv Now on my Apple TV on my 55 inch 4k tv and the picture looks great. When they add a cloud DVR, I'll be set.

Received email about beta testing the cloud dvr. Signed up and am currently testing it out with my IOS devices (Apple tv, Ipad and Iphone). So far it only allows 20 hours but Im sure it'll increase once it launches out of beta. There have been a couple of issues that the Dev's quickly squashed and it has been working really well.

I’m getting emails from Direct TV Now Beta, but I’m never got an email telling me I was chosen as a beta tester. Is anyone else getting those emails who haven’t been selected?

Report: DIRECTV NOW DVR Likely to Come Out in January 2018
by Luke Bouma on December 30, 2017 in News
For months now AT&T has been beta testing a new app and DVR for their live TV streaming service DIRECTV NOW. Ever since it was announced we have been flooded with questions about when it will come out to all DIRECTV NOW subscribers.
Now we are ready to make a prediction and say that in January 2018 the DIRECTV NOW DVR and the new app will come out or at least be announced in January.
This comes from a collection of sources we have and other factors that point to a January 2018 launch or at least announcement.
Here are our answers to some of the most popular questions we have at this time.
Will it be free?
As best we can tell DIRECTV NOW’s DVR will have at least a paid option with it. We are unsure whether it will cost money to access the DVR, like with Sling TV, or as some are starting to speculate that DIRECTV NOW will launch with 20 free hours of DVR and the ability to buy additional storage.
For now we suggest you expect to pay for the DVR, and if there is a free option consider it an early Christmas gift.
How many hours will the DVR offer?
Right now new beta testers are only getting 20 hours of DVR storage. Early beta testers received 100 hours. Sadly we cannot confirm how many hours of storage there will be at launch, but look for it to be 100 or fewer hours.
What devices will it support?
At launch look for it to support Apple TV, Fire TV, iOS, Android, and Chromecast. Roku support is in the works but for some reason that is completely unexplainable Roku support will come at a later date.
There you go. Everything we know about the new DIRECTV NOW DVR. Take this all with a grain of salt. While we believe it is reliable enough to post as with all technical things something can always happen and delay the launch.

When is Direct TV Now going to offer subscribers a third stream(or is it already available)?
I am going too be dumping Direct TV in April and a Direct TV Now third stream would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder what Apple TV 4k are flipping for. I can get $35 back from my bank for signing up with DirecTV Now. So it would basically make the Apple TV $70. Not sure it is worth the effort to sign up just to flip it.

They are now offering a Fire TV if you sign up for a month. My bank has a cash back deal (BofA) that will give me all the money back. Hello free Fire TV

According to this report, the DirecTV Now DVR will be 20 hours free with the option to buy more storage.
If you watch more than a handful of shows, 20 hours is not enough.

Yeah, 20 hours is kind of a pittance.

Most everything is On-Demand but Direct TV Now is known for being slow in that department.

I did the 3 months to get the free Apple 4K TV, but I’m cancelling and moving on to YouTube TV and their unlimited DVR (well, limited in that it saves for 9 months only).

The Directv Genie dvrs have a new menu design and interface.
I did not have any problems with the setup they had before
Now when you fast forward a show the scroll bar covers and blocks half of the screen!
Even with the upgrade MTV Live channel 572 still has no channel logo.

I could not find a thread on the Directv genie or you can move that update to the right thread?
