Vudu Credits 50% Off at Groupon

Groupon is selling Vudu Credits for 50% Off

$10 Credit for $5
$20 Credit for $10

https://www.groupon.com/deals/vudu-fort-lauderdale

Promotional value expires May 24, 2016. Amount paid never expires. Limit 1 per person, may buy 1 additional as gift. Limit 1 per customer.

Even though it says 1 per person, I was able to buy one of each and apply it to my Vudu account.

Sweet, thanks.

I bought another $10 & $20 credit, and was able to add it to my same Vudu account. So I've got $60 credit total.

Re: Vudu Credits 50% Off at Groupon

You can use the code THANKS for 10% off 3 purchases. While you can buy 2 VUDU credits per order the coupon only counts on 1 credit. So put in 4 orders ... 2 $20 credit orders for $9 each. 1 $10 credit order for $4.50 and 1 $10 credit order for $5. So $27.50 for $60 worth of credit...

Looks like THANKS isn't working anymore.

Vudu currently has the 4 Indiana Jones movie bundle for $43, not bad if you get in on this deal too.

Raiders and Temple of Doom both have the incorrect aspect ratio (1.85 instead of 2.35).

Most of the Pixar movies are on sale for $14.99.

Since they're DMA-compatible, they'll also transfer over to iTunes, Amazon, Google, etc. So even if you prefer iTunes over Vudu, this would be a good chance to get those movies.

If you're looking for anything else to buy, I'd recommend Titanic which is currently $9.99 in the Academy Awards sale. That movie was on my Wishlist for two years, and it never dropped below $22.99.

I can't imagine Pixar titles ever going lower than that.

Thanks OP! Got the $10 for $5. The $20 for $10 is sold out. Still worth it for stacking later.

I was about to pat myself on the back for waiting a day. E bates is offering 10% back today. Oh well, guess I'm in for the cheaper option.

I bought it anyway due to the convenience.

They'll likely get around to fixing it at some point.

I was pondering it until I read that. Those credits cushion the blow of buying them, but really, incorrect aspect ratio? No excuse.

How's the PQ on them?

I tried to add the blu-ray discs using the disc to digital program. Of coure it does not recognize any of the discs.

But of course they have no problem selling it to you for $43.

Re: Vudu Credits 50% Off at Groupon

Fox made all of their big ones ineligible for the disc to digital program. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Abyss, True Lies are all on the blocked list. They want us to pay out the ass for those in digital. In fact, I don't recall even seeing True Lies and Abyss on Vudu.

it's fine... a little soft in some scenes, but pretty crisp in others. I own them on Bluray, but the convenience of having them in my vudu library for essentially $20 (after the groupon 1/2 credit) was a no brainer. Sure, I wish the aspect ratio will get fixed, maybe it will, maybe it won't, but I watched Raiders and Temple this weekend and enjoyed them thoroughly, warts and all.

Re: Vudu Credits 50% Off at Groupon

 Thanks. That's my justification for wanting to buy them, since I got the credit. I have the blu's as well, but as you said, the price is practically a no-brainer. and the family gets to use it. But that aspect ratio put me to a grinding halt. I shall further ponder...

And if the rumors are true, Star Wars Episode 7 will be available in a few weeks. and I'm fairly certain that will be $19.99, so the credits will cover that for free.

Both True Lies and Abyss were available through D2D, even though they weren't listed on the Vudu website. They might still be available, I don't know.

Abyss is on the Incorrect Aspect Ratio list. It's the Fullscreen version. I never converted that one. But I was able to get True Lies.

I have True Lies on dvd & D2D does not recognize the dvd.

I got $60 of credit for $30. (2 X $10 & 2 X $5)

They were both available on D2D for a while. True Lies in HD, and the Abyss in SD only.

They were both pulled from D2D a year or two ago.

hanshotfirst1138 03-01-16 04:17 PM

The Vudu version of True Lies looks pretty good. Since it and The Abyss are evidently coming out on Blu-ray around the same time Richard Dawkins starts going to church, it was a nice consolation prize. Shame we couldn't get one for The Abyss.

Cool. The $10 for $5 option is still available. Thanks for the heads up, OP.
