Why is the Pluto Channel Guide so small?

Do they have a lot of mice who watch?

They're adding a Showtime channel: https://gizmodo.com/you-can-now-watc...ort-1845781862

It'll be a jumble of random uncensored episodes of original programming. Kinda weird to throw out a bunch of episodes for serialized shows that have season/episode-long arcs. Not much "drop in" value, IMO. I wonder how many Showtime subscriptions it'll drive.

Then again, I'm really curious about Bryan Cranston's new show, so I'll probably catch the pilot on this Pluto channel. Who knows, maybe I'll end up subscribing to Showtime.

Still my most watched app. The Bob Ross channel has been great to watch again.

I have been keeping it on the holiday channel (Season Greetings). Did anyone else on here besides me watch the new MST3K Turkey Day marathon on Pluto?

I did Turkey Day on Youtube, since it didn't have ads (just quiet/space noises).

That’s cool, I’m so used to the regular ads on Pluto that I assumed they would be stuck in for Turkey Day.

Re: Pluto TV (Roku) - "The best channel you're not yet watching"

A lot of these channels are repeated on different services. I watch Xumo "Channel Plus" a lot because my LG TV has its channels grouped in with the broadcast stations- if you hit Channel Up after the last broadcast channel, it'll start going into the Xumo channels then back to broadcast channel 2 when you've gone through all of those. The Redbox app which I hardly use has some of these same channels also as does Stirr on the Roku.

REALLY wish they would get the proper video frame rate on these, I hate watching a slower than intended frame rate especially on news and stuff. ABC News Live is available for free through the Sling app and actually shows there in the proper frame rate, looking just like live TV, but is at the lower rate on Xumo and other services that carry it.

About the only positive thing Viacom had to report on their last earnings call, was a large increase of subscribers for their Pluto TV service. In the last few months, they have been adding a lot a unique show channels. There are now channels dedicated to Happy Days, Mission Impossible, Love Boat, Wings, The Beverly Hillbillies, Family Ties and The Price Is Right ( Bob Barker).

In October 2018, the internet television service Pluto TV suffered a data breach which was then shared extensively in hacking communities. Pluto TV "decided not to proactively inform users of the breach" which contained 3.2M unique email and IP addresses, names, usernames, genders, dates of birth and passwords stored as bcrypt hashes. The data was provided to HIBP [have I been pwned] by dehashed.com.

Sort of a tangent, but I only started using the Pluto TV app this year and as far as I can remember I didn't have to create an account. What advantages does creating an account give you, if any?

At some point they eliminated the option to sign in. Originally, if you created an account they gave you extra channels. But for those that had an account they were hacked.

I've never had a Pluto account. I just downloaded the app and it never asked me to create one.

I've only checked it out a little since it's on the Fire Stick. Looked like it had some cool movie channels.

Thanks to all of you for recommending Pluto. I've been LOVING revisiting the classic TV selections of Three's Company, Family Ties, Mork & Mindy, The Love Boat etc. and of course the three cat/dog/animal channels always bring the smiles. During this continued lockdown in CA, it's been a fun time waster and harkens back to a time when things were less complicated and naive.

Also check out Airy TV. They have a bunch of classic TV channels.

Agree with all this. Three's Company on Pluto helped me get through the long Summer.

Do people prefer watching their favorite tv shows with commercials rather than buying the dvd's?

Not really, no.

However, part of the appeal and fun of Pluto is that I can channel surf to another show once the interruptions begin.
Also, thanks for the heads up on Airy, will check out

Pluto TV is more for the casual viewer. For instance, I like watching Happy Days, Wings, Love Boat MI and etc, but I 'm not so into these shows that I will go out and buy the DVDs or subscribe to a special streaming service. It's also perfect for older viewers, who struggle with keying in an old show, or like my dad just wants to channel surf.

Re: Pluto TV (Roku) - "The best channel you're not yet watching"

Yeah Pluto TV is my "go to" for 'live' TV when i fire up the Roku. It's the first place I check and there is usually something to watch. Then I venture into other streaming apps after that. The commercials are whatever because its free.

Re: Pluto TV (Roku) - "The best channel you're not yet watching"

Yeah I like the live TV and channel surfing aspect of it. I can just turn on a favorite channel and leave it.

Plus something like Threes company is OOP on DVD, going for hundreds.
