A few Shudder "originals" are getting Blu-ray releases, like the British folk horror Gwen.

I had the $29 yr deal that expired earlier this year. I asked them to give it to me again, but they declined so I cancelled.
But I'm going to wait until after Disney+ comes out. I think a lot of these niche platforms are going to be dropping their prices.

My annual membership is expiring in Mid-November. I asked if I could renew using the Halloween discount. But they said I'd need to close my account and open a new one.

I think I'm going to cancel my annual membership and hope for a good deal on Black Friday or around Christmas. Or maybe just sign-up for a month here and there to binge.

The problem is that the services have a floor they can't drop below in price due to licensing costs. That is why many of them fold instead of lowering their price tiers.

The Halloween sign-up discount ended up only being something like $5 cheaper than the renewal rate for those who were grandfathered in to the $45 a year rate. The $3.75 a month that breaks down to makes it really hard for me to cancel.

I just cancelled Shudder after a year. I had a killer price ($5/mo) but I just didn't watch it enough.

I think this is the first time I've seen Silent Night, Deadly Night: Part 2. I always ignored it because of the awful reviews. But it was actually pretty fun in an ultra-cheesy 80's kinda way.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

Teenage daughter walked into the room during Black Christmas as the crank caller was shouting “c*nt” and “p*ssy” left and right. I frantically and repeatedly pound the pause button on my roku remote before I realize it won’t let me pause a livestream. Awkward.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

I rarely have time to watch Shudder, but I happened to notice Chopping Mall was on it. For the record, it's also on Amazon Prime. It's really short at 77 minutes, so I decided to give it a watch.

Anyways, I have never seen the movie before and loved it. Loved how goofy and campy it was, especially for a horror movie. The robots looked so cheesy.

Can't believe the movie is 33 years old and all the actors on it are now pushing 60. One of the young actors actually died 2 years after this movie came out from heart disease.

Does anyone own the above Blu-Ray? Just curious if it's worth owning. I see there's a lot of bonus content on it. These Vestron releases are pretty good.

Any word on why the second movie in Joe Bob’s Red Christmas triple feature got pulled?

It could be a licensing issue. Some movies are only available for a limited time.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

You would think they would license longer than two months for one of their signature series.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

And it might come back. When I signed up in October I was bummed that Joe Bob's regular season was incomplete, but over the last several weeks Shudder got the licenses back for some of the missing films (House of the Devil, Prom Night II, Society) and those episodes were put back up. I'm working my way through the regular season and patiently waiting for the other missing movies (CHUD, The Stuff) to get licensed again.

I watched My Bloody Valentine for the first time ever last night. Between that and seeing Madman the other night, I'm enjoying how relatively quaint early '80s slashers were. And Canadian. (One of the MBV characters saying "sorry" a couple of times clued me in.)

Joe Bob & Darcy are doing a marathon tonight. There's a live Tweet-a-thon starting at 7pm. They're watching Friday the 13th Part 4 at 9pm. Then at Midnight there's a Youtube show with a couple horror short films and Driller Killer (1979).

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

That was a bit tough to watch, mostly because of the quality. Darcy was a lot more animated in the livestream than she is on the show, though. That was nice to see. I bailed fairly early on, but will check out the archive for the Q&A.

And to whoever is in charge of curating Shudder's collections of movies... bravo.
