Found something interesting while watching Underworld on Netflix

I own the BR of Underworld, but while I was looking through Netflix for something to watch recently, I came across Underworld, and decided to watch it. I guess I was just too lazy to get up and put the disc in.

Everything about the movie was just as I remembered, but toward the end, when Michael has the vision of what happened to start the war, specifically Victor sentencing Sonja to death, I noticed the scene played out with Rhona Mitra as Sonja, instead of the unknown actress I remembered! In other words, they apparently spliced in scenes from a movie that, technically, hadn't even been filmed yet, presumably to keep the viewer from being confused when they get around to watching the prequel movie, and help them associate characters better. I just thought it was strange, and I don't think I've ever seen that before, unless you want to count Hayden Christensen being edited into the special edition of ROTJ.

Are there other examples of movies from a series doing this?

What's funny is I think that just happened on the April 2nd, 2015 release of Underworld on Netflix. It has no coverage on any sites.

Also, they still list the original actress in the credits of the streaming version. No mention of Rhona at all.

I know of TV shows that have filmed new scenes and put them in the home video/syndicated versions because an actor replaced the original actor in subsequent episodes. SEINFELD and THE SOPRANOS are two that jump to mind.

I wonder if Game of Thrones will do that when the series is "complete", ie: replacing the guys that played The Mountain in S1 and S2 with Björnsson.

Discomfort with the Lucasing aside, that's exceedingly weird. I would've thought that apart from having to pay her royalties, it would've been more work to splice everything in. Is there any DVD/BD version which does that? It seems like that'd be a lot of effort to do.
