ConTV for Roku

http://www.contv.com/browse-movie/

Just found this channel over the weekend and thought it had some really good shows on it. Greatest American Hero, MXC, and a bunch of others plus movies, anime, and Comic Con panels.

That's a pretty good channel. I watched something on there a couple days ago.

I wish the VIP (ad-free) membership was cheaper. $6.99 is kinda pricey considering most of the content is z-list and public domain stuff. If they offered discounted 3-6 month packages around $4/month, I'd sign-up.

I checked it out the other night, and the content on there was pretty amazing. It is geek heaven.

I rewatched the first few episodes for the first time in over 30 years. Connie Sellecca was fine as hell. Hard to believe she'll be 60 next month.

I was in 4th or 5th grade when Greatest American hero was on so I barely remember it but I want to check it out. The also have the old Japanese version of Battle of the Planets, Gatchaman, that I want to watch.

I am pretty sure The Greatest American Hero is what got me reading comics regularly as a lad.

Started watching Greatest American Hero last night and the only thing familiar is the theme song.

I wonder if it'll be William Shatner? His Q&A is right after Billy Dee Williams.

It should be fun. Looks like a good schedule of events today.

I couldn't find a link on the Roku app. But I was able to get the Live Stream using the Search feature.

Search for "CONtv Live".

Re: ConTV for Roku

The live stream says "Stay tuned for Alex Kingston, Billy Dee Williams and William Shatner". So it looks like they'll also stream the Shatner Q&A at 6pm EST.

That's because all the original songs have been removed. Another song rights victim.

The Comic Con Chicago live coverage has started. They're showing the Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries) panel right now. This guy seems like a real conceited douchebag.

I think you need to be a VIP member to watch it. If you sign-up, use the coupon code "SHERA1".

He'd been up all night shooting an episode (at least that's what he claimed), so I cut him a little slack, but his panel was not very good. Stephen Amell's panel WAS pretty good, and I don't even watch ARROW. Seeing Burt Reynolds was both sad and entertaining...sad that his body seems to be falling apart, but entertaining in that he seems to be pretty sharp and told some great stories.

PhantomStranger 08-23-15 12:36 AM

Re: ConTV for Roku

Those panels are always hit-or-miss. Most of the stars are contractually obligated to appear in them for their shows and the drive to do them wanes once a show has established itself.

Re: ConTV for Roku

I'm a little confused by the website, but that's probably because I'm firewalled and some of the stuff is being blocked.

I've read that a VIP membership gets you commercial-free viewing, but on the website there are several shows tagged as "VIP", while others are not. So, does this mean that you can only watch those specific channels if you are VIP, or that anyone can watch them but VIPs get them commercial-free? And what about that non-tagged shows?

I'm a member and none of the stuff I watch has commercials, with the exception of the LIVE Comic Con broadcasts, which take long commercial breaks between panels/segments - but they're commercials for ConTV productions, so they're not too annoying, just repetitive.

They responded to a similar question on Facebook:

"As CONtv grows, it's moving more titles to VIP access only. However, there is still lots of stuff available with free registration."
