Sony Bravia More Efficient YouTube App Being Discontinued for Much Worse App

So, I have a Sony BD Player with Sony Bravia. It's worked fine for the most part. I can watch YouTube videos on my TV with the greatest of ease. Except they are soon going to be discontinuing a fine YouTube app (that glides along just fine and is very intuitive) for a horrendously inefficient, cumbersome YouTube app that's a nightmare to use.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is there anything I can do?

It's all API, so shouldn't the old app still work? Can you block updates?

What's the new version look like? Is it like the Roku app they just updated to?

There's a note on it that says it will stop working on April 20th.

If this decade sucks for any one reason its because consumers have less control over the product than they have since the era before VHS recorders.
