Paramount+ getting rid of some children's content that I'm sure most of you have never watched.

Re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

Remember Paramount is hurting financially right now.

Paramount+ has purged 10 Nickelodeon original series, following the removal of other Nick titles from the platform over the past several months.

The list includes Are You Afraid of the Dark? (2019-2022), Blue’s Clues & You! (2019), It’s Pony (2020-2022), Middlemost Post (2021-2022), Ollie’s Pack (2020), Ryan’s Mystery Playdate (2019-2023), Santiago of the Seas (2020), That Girl Lay Lay (2021-2024) as well as the made-for-Paramount+ Big Nate (2022)and Rugrats (2021).

My son loves Big Nate (both the book series and the cartoon). I mean he'll get over it but I still wonder why they don't have a blurb saying it's leaving to get that last binge watch.

I don't think I'm going crazy but the interface is getting worse...now it loses my place if I start a show on one device and move to another, and it always seems to show my "next episode" as the one I just watched.

I haven’t had that issue but I do get a problem when I’m scrolling through categories.
When I hit the back button on the at 4k it goes all the way back to the main home section instead of just back to the front of the category.

If you're a new or existing Mint Mobile subscriber, they sent out codes for 6-months free of P+. Keep in mind it's 6 free months of the Essential plan, which is the ad based bare bones one.

I think this is what made him think there is a “link”.

Is that only for new customers? I let my sub lapse a few months back but would jump on that deal.

Edit: Was able to use the deal even after I logged in. Works for former subscribers, not just new customers.

If Sony takes over Paramount, sounds like they might kill off Paramount +

https://deadline.com/2024/05/sony-pa...ra-1235944301/

This is what their CEO said:

“We are looking for strategic investments … that complement our strategy. We are not going to go outside the strategy that has been enormously successful for us over the past several years,” he said. “We will not make investments that don’t complement our core strategy, and our strategy is to have more IP, more product, more library to sell. We’re not going to get into other businesses. We’re not going to get into a general entertainment streaming service. We’re not going to be operating other businesses that are outside the strategy that we have defined.”

That could be code for: Sony has no interest in streaming service Paramount+.

Re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

Ugh, that would really stink. As I say, we have been pleasantly surprised by how Paramount+ has become our #1 most-used streaming service. I don't even think we'd keep Netflix or Hulu if they weren't supplemented by our T-Mobile bill.

This is what their CEO said:

Considering how Showtime no longer has a seperate app, does that mean Showtime will also become just a linear channel?

Or as the CEO says, they may not buy Paramount after all since Paramount has:

Showtime, Paramount+, and PlutoTV

Not to mention linear channels via cable, satellite, and streaming TV.

I hope Sony keeps away from Paramount. Sounds like they’ll just slowly dismantle it.

I realize that Paramount isn’t making money off Paramount +, but it’s really improved a lot since the CBS All-Access days and they have a decent supply of original, current and catalog content. And Paramount already licenses out their content to others. I see some pop up on Max and even Netflix.

Yeah I have used Paramount+ the most of any service that isn't a live TV streaming service. Would suck if it goes away.

Count me as another that uses P+ more than most of the other streaming services I have.

Re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

But will all the Paramount movies become Movies Anywhere if Sony buys them? Paramount puts a lot of their stuff on Netflix. School Spirits is labeled as a Paramount Originals series and they put it on Netflix not too long after it debuted on Paramount Plus. Some of their exclusive movies have appeared on Netflix. They slowly have been adding some of their Showtime catalog titles to Netflix again.

fujishig 06-02-24 10:30 AM

Re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

It sounds like he would just sell off the content to other streamers like they do the Sony stuff now. For the consumer that doesn't seem bad exactly unless there just really is no interest in some of these projects to get funding elsewhere (or you really really need all Nick shows under one service or something)

Exactly, Sony will sell off the parts of Paramount it's not interested in. That is one of the big reasons many in the industry are hoping they'll sell to Skydance instead (who wants to keep Paramount intact).

Re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

Paramount Global has announced price increases for Paramount+ tiers with and without Showtime to take effect August 20, although the essential plan hike will only impact new subscribers.

The company said the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan will increase by $1 to $12.99 per month for both existing and new customers, while the cost of the Paramount+ Essential plan will rise by $2 to $7.99 per month for all new subscribers.

The Paramount+ Limited Commercial Plan will also increase by $1 to $7.99 for current subscribers.

The new pricing will be effective for all new Paramount+ customers and for existing Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers with their next billing date on or after September 20.

Existing monthly subscribers to Paramount+ Essential will continue their subscription at the current price of $5.99 and pricing of both annual subscription plans will remain unchanged.
