Tried this awhile ago and the quality was abysmal.

Recently they did add movies. I wonder how deep in the Paramount Vault will they venture.

Re: CBS Launches $5.99 A Month Subscription Streaming Service

I have had the commercial free plan for about a month to get caught up on Life in Pieces, The Great Indoors, and The Big Bang Theory. I had to move recently and give my DVR back to Comcast that I had the rest of the season recorded on. I'm not happy at all they don't have the full season of The Big Bang Theory on there.

Also they will insert promos in some shows and not in other shows. They insert three in Life in Pieces, but none in The Great Outdoors or Superior Donuts. I was going to cancel, but they offer me a month for free when I tried to cancel. I accepted it since I want to watch Hunted.

The shows owned and produced by CBS can be offered as full seasons.

Everything else are limited episodes due to it being produced by a different studio and limited rights. Life in Pieces is FOX, The Big Bang Theory is Warner Bros.

Maybe different rights for that show. They don't have the first season because Netflix has the rights now. I'm sure once the third season starts, season 2 will disappear and head to Netflix.

From executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Funny Or Die, NO ACTIVITY celebrates the mundane in what should be a high stakes sting operation. Set against the world of a major drug cartel bust, the series follows two low-level cops who have spent far too much time in a car together; two criminals who are largely kept in the dark; two dispatch workers who haven't really clicked; and two Mexican tunnelers who are in way too small a space considering they've only just met.

The cast of NO ACTIVITY includes Patrick Brammall and Tim Meadows along with guest stars Mark Berry, Arturo Castro, Mackenzie Davis, Bridget Everett, Will Ferrell, Darren Gilshenan, Travis Guba, Jake Johnson, Sunita Mani, Jason Mantzoukas, Adrian Martinez, Jesse Plemons, Fred Pohl, Alex Rodriguez, Amy Sedaris, J.K. Simmons, Courtenay Taylor, Michaela Watkins and Daniel Zolghadri.

So is this service a success? How’s their subscriptions been on this? I have zero desire, but have been curious mostly for Star Trek. But absolutely nothing else catches my eye.

They haven't released actual numbers of their subscribers.

No Activity will be their 3rd original series.

The service really caters to those who watch a lot of CBS like their crime & action procedurals along with their comedies. And then there's Survivor and The Amazing Race.

If you're not a regular viewer of their shows, it's probably not for you.

We cancelled All Access recently. DirecTVNOW just added CBS OnDemand, and other than Star Trek Discovery, all of their current shows are available to us without paying for an extra service.

On another site I saw someone complaining that the ad-free version includes CBS promos mid-show (with the fine print differentiating between ads and CBS promos).

Has anyone encountered this? I could deal with something pre-show, but mid-show would really suck.

We had the ad-free version, and we saw no promos for any other their shows.

I had the commercial free plan a couple months ago and promos would pop up mid show. Some shows would have three promos and some would have none. They always seemed to pop up during Life in Pieces.

I have the ad-free version and used it over the summer to get caught up with NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, NCIS LA and Bull and it was all pure commercial free. No promos at all.

I recently discovered that my Plex media center software (extending to my Roku) has all of the network channel apps and all but Fox has their latest episodes without commercials, including CBS.

I have plex running on my drobo, and really only used it to view my pictures on computer or Roku.
When I saw your post last night I started playing around with it, downloaded it to my computer (couldn't figure out to add channels to drobo plex) and added some channels but couldn't get any to play on computer.
Tried on Roku tonight and the channels are playing, commercial free.
I don't get it, I don't know a whole lot about Plex, but I don't have a Pass/subscription and don't have an OTA antenna hooked up to a tuner on my computer.
We cut the cord earlier this year, and have been casting CBS shows from cbs.com on my laptop to TV so this is great!
Now that I have it installed on my computer it looks like I can add them to my drobo too.

That's great and all, but the CBS website doesn't store entire seasons and also doesn't have Star Trek Discovery. It also won't have the new Will Ferrell comedy coming out.

It has it's limitations, but if you prefer to watch it through a "free" platform with the limitation of only recent episodes, knock yourself out.

I signed-up for the recent Free Month promo a couple weeks ago. Yesterday I went to cancel my subscription, and when I hit Cancel I got a pop-up offering me another free month.

Because they don’t own the full streaming rights to the show. WB only lets them post select episodes from the most recent season and it rotates.

The only shows that get full season rights are CBS owned.
