Darn. We’re currently on a cheap student hulu/Spotify combo plan, but I’m unsure how long it will last given that she just graduated. Tempted to go ahead and bite on this anyway....

I just signed up for the promotion. Any suggestions for original programming?

For me, the ones I would watch are:
Handmaid's tale, I didn't think I would like this but after S1 won some awards I checked it out and really liked it. S1 based on the book, S2 all new material for the most part.
The Looming Tower (9/11)
11.22.63 (Stephen King)
Beatles: Eight Days a Week

Then these
Future Man
Chance, S1 was really good, S2 dropped some for me.
Castle Rock (Stephen King)
Marvel's Runaways
The Path, slow burn

And if you were a fan of the Mindy Project, the last 3 seasons were on Hulu.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I second Future Man. IMHo it’s very underrated.
And ditto Handmaid’s Tale. 11/22/63 and Castle Rock are both OK if you’re a King fan, but nothing special.

In addition to Future Man which others have recommended the series Difficult People and Deadbeat are really funny. Also while technically not a Hulu original the Irish Series Moone Boy is really good. It's similiar to something like "The Wonder Years or "The Goldbergs" which the narrator is retelling events of their childhood

For those who've never had Hulu before, they also get the rights to EPIX movies and some original content. They don't get the EPIX original shows like Berlin Station, Get Shorty (on Netflix) or Deep State. It's a non-exclusive deal because Prime also gets the same EPIX stuff as well.

I passed on the deal too. Hulu airs 10 minutes of commercials for every hour-long show. That would drive me nuts. It's worth paying extra to get rid of the commercials.

Even if you watched 0 tv show's,the movie's don't have commercials and their film catalog is a steal at 99 cents a month.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I got the .99 deal yesterday. I watched Sorry to Bother You. It had one commercial in the beginning. That movie alone was worth six months worth of what I paid. Finding Party Down in the archives is worth the other six months. Anything else now is gravy.

Dollar General has 15% off Hulu giftcards.
Just put $100 worth on my acct. I won't get charged until August 2019! (assuming I don't add any add-ons).

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I got in on the $1/month deal after having been without Hulu for a couple of years. I don't mind the commercials and I will definitely get my money's worth (not hard at that price).

Quick question--is there a list of Hulu content (TV shows/movies) alphabetized? I could swear I saw it a few days ago upon signing up, the ability to view things A-Z. Now I don't see it anywhere whether on my laptop or on the app. Someone please tell me I'm blind.

In a browser, you can Browse>Networks>pick a network>A-Z.

I don't know/see any other way.

You can also go to Browse > TV Shows or Movies > select a Genre > A-Z (at the bottom)

Thanks to both of you for the tips. What you describe Dave is what I had seen previously. The same option is available on the app as well.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Anyone else have a weird zoom issue? I watched an episode of Lethal Weapon the other day and it was like really zoomed in. I see it was an issue in the past. I did a hard reset of my Roku, but still had the problem. Anyone encounter this and figure out a fix? Was annoying as fuck.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

FYI
All 9 seasons of the original 24 have now moved to Hulu.

They are no longer available on Amazon Prime for free streaming.

I did the same but unlike you, after a couple of hours I was ready to give them an extra $4 a month to dump the commercials. What a shame they won't allow it. Sure, you can upgrade to "commercial free" but you lose the entire discounted price.

Hulu now is not at all what I expected. If memory serves, when I tried Hulu+ years ago it was current run shows of all the networks except CBS and a few movies, mostly criterion. I really should have done some research before jumping on that offer. Still, lots of good options, just different (actually better) than I expected.

I powered through it, but am hoping it was an isolated incident. Anytime there were 2 people on screen, one of them had half their face cut off.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

The only time I ever experienced anything like that, it was the Roku. Everything was zoomed in, the Roku homepage, the app's homepage, video, etc.
Usually a restart fixed it for me. But never had just one app do it.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Just noticed that The Killing (old AMC series that was saved by Netflix) is now on Hulu.

and I checked Netflix and it appears to no longer be on there.
