Oh yeah, that mix DVR/VOD/Live TV setup on Hulu Live is interesting. Basically you'd lose anything on CBS in terms of broadcast networks.

I actually liked the service overall, but I use Hulu on multiple TVs in multiple houses and the Live limits of 4 changes kind of screwed that up. So I'm on YouTube TV now hah.

To note, the 3 shows with ads, per Hulu:

But why am I still seeing ads?

The vast majority of our streaming library is offered without interruption for our ad-free subscribers, but there are a few shows that will still have ads. While the list is subject to change, it currently includes:

If you still wanted CBS shows you'd have to subscribe to CBS All Access for $6.99 with commercials or $9.99 commercial free.

The price of your Hulu + Live TV plan has now increased from $44.99/month to $54.99/month starting yesterday.

Hulu is still 1/3 the price I was paying for DirecTV so worth it. Of course after football season, I will drop Live TV and just have Hulu w/no ads.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I have Hulu Live (+ad free), but that term ad-free is misleading.

I have an old generation Apple TV device and cannot access Hulu Live on it, only the standard Hulu. Therefore I bought a Firestick. So I was able to compare the Hulu vs Hulu Live.

What I noticed (and looks like has already been mentioned a few posts before) is that anything that can’t be accessed via the standard Hulu (and only on Hulu Live) will still have ads even if you subscribe to ad-free.

Things I’ve noticed if you have ad-free service:

— Past seasons of Always Sunny are ad-free, but the current season (14) has ads.

—Superstore is always ad-free no matter what season. The most current episode is accessible the day after it airs in the Hulu Standard library.

—The Profit shouldn’t have ads, even the current season. However, Hulu glitches and will give me ads. I watched an episode today and that happened. I stopped the episode when the first ad started playing and relaunched it. The ads disappeared and the rest of the episode was ad-free. So there are glitches.

I save about $70 per month by choosing Hulu Live (ad-free) over Wave cable, so it was still a positive choice for me. But the ad-free upgrade is still frustrating, so my satisfaction with Hulu is about a 85-90%

HBO and Cinemax bundle sale.

Get both for $19.99 per month for 1 year

HBO is normally $15/month and Cinemax is $10/month.

Awesome deal there and it's not limited to new subscribers. I just canceled my HBO Now subscription (I had a week free which would have renewed tomorrow) and subscribed via HULU for this discounted package.

Watch Carla Gugino's show on Cinemax Jett and also Warrior, the show inspired by Bruce Lee's early script. Both are really good. Warrior is fucking badass.

Nice, I've yet to watch those. Added to the queue!

Warrior was so damn good.

Thanks D, I may re-add them since that is a good price.

I didn't see it in the trailer. I wonder if they are going to just conveniently forget that Louie exists.

Yes because they completely severed ties with him. So he's not going to get a penny from Louie anymore.

I just finished the last season of Better Things that's on Hulu, and he has credit on there. I was like, oh yeah..., I forgot about him.

Since Hulu is becoming the official home of FX streaming, I hope they re-add Nip/Tuck. I missed most of the final season when it aired and it's currently not any streaming service once FX Plus was shut down.

This thought/question just occurred to me after watching the Super Bowl - if more people are switching to “live TV” streaming services, such as Hulu and YouTube, does that even get considered as part of the ratings?

I have a vague understanding of the current Nielsen format, so I was just curious.

RichC2 02-03-20 10:44 AM

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Pretty sure they count, Nielsen stuff is actually built into both platforms in one form or another (From my YouTube TV acct).

Oh nice, thanks for sharing. I have Hulu Live and haven’t run across that info on my account.

I guess I could have googled for an answer too, but I’m surreptitiously typing this at work haha

You're opt-in by default with Hulu I believe

and FX on Hulu just launched today. Pretty much everything that airs or has aired on FX along with some new originals will be on it.

Devs premiered on FX, and Dave on FXX last night and both are available next day on Hulu. I was hoping this was going to be the case for FX shows now. Instead of dropping the season we're going to get weeklies.

Edit: Looks like Devs actually premieres tonight but is available to watch on Hulu already.
And Edit again? I see now Devs is listed as a "Hulu" show, but they show the FX badge on the screenshot.

Devs is only going to be on Hulu. It was originally going to air on FX, but they moved it to Hulu.
