Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

Hulu just announced they acquired the streaming rights to The Golden Girls. Will be available next month.

They also acquired the rights to the entire series of black-ish.

One of my wife's series, Teen Mom (yeah I know, but she likes it), all 5 seasons are expiring within one week....so did Hulu lose the ability to stream MTV? And also one of mine, Ink Master is going away too, all 7 or 8 seasons. So Spike TV is going away too from Hulu?

I might have to drop Hulu and up my very basic cable at this rate. First CW (at least I have the app), then this...I have basically CSI Miami, Elementary and the Hulu originals at this point.
I'm also noticing more shows that traditionally have had multiple past full seasons have been trimmed down to only the most current. And others now only have 5 eps up at a time where before they would have everything from the 1st ep to current. This makes keeping up with shows and catching up with past seasons a bigger pain. You kinda have to watch them soon or risk them expiring.

Dropping Hulu and saving $8 a month is starting to look like a real possibility...

*nod* and I'm horrible about watching things on time. The only one I'm good about is WWE Wrestling but that's a near 35 year old habit talking. To be frankly honest, I keep up with very few of the "last 5 episodes or last season" types. Shows like Arrow, Gotham, Elementary etc I collect the dvd, Blu-ray and/or digital copies just so I can watch them at my leisure. I mostly watch CSI Miami on VUDU. I'm on season 4 currently, and I shudder to see the day when I actually finish it.

Why did you purchase CSI: Miami on Vudu?

All 10 seasons can be watched on Hulu with a subscription.

Unless your reason is that you won't keep up in time for whatever window it has on Hulu?

I wonder what the deal is with the weird, piecemeal episodes of Dark Shadows. It's the same in Hoopla. MPI must have odd licensing issues.

Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

Has anyone noticed a change in how Hulu is working lately? My TV has a built in hulu app that just updated itself the other day, and now it is not playing things in the right order anymore. After an episode is completed, 50% of the time, instead of playing the next episode, it just decides to play some other show instead.

It used to only do that if you reached the final show if a TV series.

Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

I'm guessing that Hulu has changed their server-side API somehow and the client app on your TV hasn't been updated to support it. Maybe check and see if any update is available?

Is "I Love You, Phillip Morris" not showing up for anybody else? It was supposed to be available on February 3rd, but only the red band trailer is showing up in the search engine.

Anytime Hulu wants to stop randomly freezing on me, that would be nice.

Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

Hulu Says Goodbye to Viacom Shows

“Looking to watch the latest episode of “The Daily Show” or “Bar Rescue”? Well don’t try your luck on Hulu. It looks like Viacom’s deal with Hulu has ended and they stopped uploading new episodes to the video service this week, and is now telling viewers on Twitter to catch Trevor Noah’s latest on its website instead.

Viacom CEO Bob Bakish hinted at this development during last week’s earnings call, telling analysts and investors that “SVOD is not going to be a significant part of our affiliate revenue” going forward, and that the company would be “highly selective in striking agreements with over the top distributors” in the future.

Hulu will keep rights to some Viacom shows:
Hit Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer, Broad City, Drunk History and Workaholics

Complete libraries of popular series including Jersey Shore, Key & Peele and Catfish

Kids programming from Nickelodeon including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Thundermans, Rugrats, Rabbids Invasion, Drake & Josh and Hey Arnold!.

Hulu will also continue to be the exclusive streaming home to ALL current and library episodes of South Park, one of the biggest animated series of all time.

I was just about to sign up for Hulu because Vue dropped Viacom a while back and we have been missing it. This sucks.

Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

In the past 3-4 months, Hulu has lost the CW network, the Criterion Collection, the Carsey-Werner library, and Viacom shows.

But they picked up Golden Girls, so I guess it's all good.

Don't forget the entire series of Boondocks too .

But yeah...they have lost a lot lately, MTV stuff has went by the waste side too. (I think that's part of Viacom too?). We also did our fair watching of Bar Rescue episodes as well (but hadn't in a few months, the concept begins to lose its luster after 30 to 40 episodes).

Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

I've put my sub on hold for months. I just don't use it, like at all. I should cancel but I know there are some stuff I'll watch, whenever...

Re: Hulu Plus -- News and Notable New additions

I should be paying more attention to this thread. I almost dropped $30 on buying a bundle of both Fargo seasons, but S2 just showed up on Hulu on Friday.

Yes, I know S1 was already available, but I also felt weird about the idea of only buying S2 but not S1. Now I don't have to 'own' either one.

Now I just need to wait patiently for the latest season of You're The Worst...

Re: Hulu Live TV streaming service to launch in 2017

http://www.fiercecable.com/broadcast...ive-tv-service

Hulu Live has added NBC cable networks. That includes SyFy, USA, Bravo etc.

But, they currently don't have the rights to live NBC.

Service will also include a cloud DVR, which is expected to be available at launch.

Hulu Live also added the A&E Cable Networks, which include A&E, History, Lifetime, Viceland.

No deal yet with Viacom

Also, it looks like Hulu Live won't be carrying The CW since they severed their relationship with Hulu last year. I don't see any mention of Hulu Live carrying The CW in any articles. I think The CW wants people to watch their ad supported App/website to get access to their content.

I've been reading a lot online and their still seems to be a bunch of really stubborn/finicky people who aren't buying into these cheaper streaming provider alternatives to cable and satellite. Some still think it's too expensive and they only want to pay for the select small amount of channels they are only interested in watching and not bundles.
