Looks like after my recent expunging by Hulu for buying allegedly improperly acquired codes from eBay, the crackdown seems complete. I haven't seen any discounted Hulu codes on the site in weeks. I imagine that they've come to an agreement with ebay to stop selling them.

Hulu just won the exclusive streaming rights to Blindspot and Lucifer. Both seasons in their entirety will be posted there at a later time. |

Hulu also grabbed streaming rights to Smallville, The OC, Southland and Rizzoli & Isles.
OTT streaming service Hulu has secured rights to past seasons of outgoing TNT scripted drama series Rizzoli & Isles as part of a broader content deal with Warner Bros, the service announce Thursday. Hulu will have streaming premiere rights for the past six seasons of the highly-rated Rizzoli & Isles, which will launch its seventh and final season this summer, said network officials. The streaming service has also acquired rights to Fox broadcasting dramas Blindspot and Lucifer as well as drama series The OC, Smallville and Southland to distribute on its no commercials and limited commercials subscription services over the next couple of months, said network officials. The first five seasons of cop procedural “Rizzoli & Isles,” which will end its run on TNT this summer after seven seasons, will be available on Hulu beginning in April. The final two seasons of the show, starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, will be available to stream on Hulu after airing on TNT. Additionally, library titles from Warner Bros. Television including “The O.C.,” “Southland” and “Smallville,” will also become available to stream on Hulu. All episodes of “The O.C.” will become available to stream in April, and “Southland” and “Smallville” will make their streaming premieres exclusively on Hulu later this year. Wow, surprised they got the rights to Smallville too. I think this is the 1st time that Smallville has been available on a streaming platform.
Tell me if I'm mistaken, but I believe seasons 1-5 of Smallville previously only aired in standard definition. I seem to recall something where WB said it would be too expensive to re-master them for a Blu-Ray release. Curious if Hulu is getting an HD version. I'm a little surprised that Warner Bros went to Hulu instead of Netflix. |

Smallville should be HD (all seasons). I don't know about Blu-ray releases. But Smallville has been airing HD episodes on cable TV for the past 10 years. And the HD streaming versions are available at Vudu, iTunes, Amazon, etc.

I believe the issue with Smallville HD was to do with 720p vs 1080p... And something about the special effects being subpar 720p and they would look somehow worse in Blu... If I remember correctly...

Didn't they do the first few seasons on Super 35 and in SD? The idea of shooting widescreen was probably just starting to come into vogue, so they may not have been thinking of HD until further along.

My three month Hulu trial ended yesterday. I fully intended to keep it going - my principles against premium services showing commercials be damned - but during that time my bank's Mastercard switched to a Visa and I never updated my Roku account with the new number. Does Hulu ever offer "come back!" email enticements? Like a free month or something? I'm going to reup, but was wondering if I should wait a little bit.
