If that happens, I'll just sideload it like I did with VUDU, though I don't really need VUDU anymore now that MA ported all my stuff to Amazon.

You can still watch You Tube on Amazon Fire with the Silk Browser.

This is off topic, but I hope the YouTube app isn't pulled from Roku too. I love it and watch tons of videos on my tv.

I doubt it will be. Google is feuding with Amazon, mainly because Amazon keeps pulling google items off their site (the latest being Nest devices), among other things. I doubt google touches youtube on ios either, even though they are in direct competition with apple in many similar areas.

It took the Roku a long time to get YouTube for similar reasons that they worked out.

The YouTube app on my Fire Stick doesn't even seem official. Nothing beats the quality of the app on my LG TV anyways, except that some 60fps videos won't play through it properly and I have to use my laptop instead.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

I prefer to watch YouTube through my Fire Stick than through my Sony TV app. The quality is solid throughout the show instead of being inconsistent.

Update on the Google and Amazon conflict. They are in talks and Amazon added to Chromecasts to their store. There is a chance the YouTube apps will remain on Fire products.

Best way to watch You Tube is with a PC w/ad blocker with HDMI line out to TV.

It's hard to wait 3 seconds to skip the ad, eh?

There's not always a skip ad button. Sometimes there's an unskippable 15 or 30 second ad.

I download Firefox so my daughter could watch YouTube this afternoon. Not as good as the app but it worked.

The remote control of one of my Fire Sticks w/ Alexa keeps draining my AAA batteries. Anyone know why this is happening and how to make it stop? Is the remote faulty?

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

From checking out Amazon's site this morning, it appears they are getting rid of the Fire TV 3 (Pendant Design) and just going with this new 4K Stick instead...

https://www.engadget.com/2018/10/03/...e-tv-stick-4k/

Amazon's latest Fire TV Stick offers 4K for $50
You can also buy the newer Alexa Voice Remote by itself.

After years of offering 4K playback on its higher-end Fire TV devices, Amazon is ready to bring that extra resolution to its most affordable hardware. With a base of active users that's 25 million strong, it's launching the Fire TV Stick 4K, delivering Ultra HD and HDR streaming through an HDMI dongle that costs a modest $50. The stealthy device isn't as affordable as Roku's $40 Premiere, but it's also billed as the first media stick to support Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. You won't have to settle for lower-quality output just to save some cash or avoid using your TV's built-in apps.

The device also ships with Amazon's newer Alexa Voice Remote (included with the Fire TV Cube), touting Bluetooth, "multidirectional" infrared and some much-needed buttons for power, volume and muting. You'll have more reason to use the remote, as well. Amazon noted that in-app Alexa control is coming to a number of more specialized video services, including AMC, HBO Now and Sony Crackle.

The Fire TV Stick 4K is up for pre-orders and will ship to both the US and Canada on October 31st. Germany, India and the UK will have to wait until November 14th, while Japan gets it by the end of 2018. You don't have to spend the full $50 if you just want the remote, for that matter. Amazon is making the Alexa Voice Remote available by itself for $30 with the same release dates as the media stick, while those looking for OTA TV to go with their streaming can get a Fire TV Recast bundle with broadcast-catching box, a 35-mile antenna and this stick for $250 -- $50 less than buying them separately.

This has been happening too me too ever since day one.

It's almost automatic that I have to change the batteries every two weeks and it's a pain in the ass trying too get the back cover off the remote .

Got hooked up with a brand new Firetv stick 4k. But I just bought a Roku Ultra back in Dec. Is there any reason to keep the Firestick?

Unless you want to put it in another room.

But, the Roku Ultra is a far superior device.

Our long national nightmare is over. Once Apple started popping up on Android, I knew this wouldn't last much longer.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

Is there a way to permanently turn off Fire stick? I can make it sleep, but every time I press input to go to it it’s on. I should at least have to press home screen to turn back on. I mean I don’t want to leave unplugged until I use it since it’s almost every night. I’m sure it doesn’t use a ton of power, but why be on?
