There was no "glitch" for American a Crime, nor is there one for iZombie. At times, iTunes offers shows for sale without including the "season pass" option that most of their content includes.
For shows like these (American Crime, iZombie, Marry Me), the price at the top of the listing is for the combined price of each episode currently available. So for American Crime, the current listed price is $8.97. Next week, when a new episode is available, the season price will then be $8.97 + $2.99 (new episode).
I've seen people on other forums complaining that they are purchasing the "entire" first season for the $2.99 price, so they think it should include all future episodes. It does not. As there is only one aired episode of iZombie, the "entire" first season is one episode, and one episode only. Next week, the "entire" first season will include two. Then three. Then four. Until the first season is either complete, or it has been cancelled.

One of the best new dramas from last season that hardly anyone watched.
It is coming back in 2016 for a second season. If you're wondering, this first season is a self contained story arc. It's absolutely worth watching if you haven't seen it.

I ordered it through the AppleTV using the Search.
There are two separate listings. There's the regular one that's not free. And there's this one that says "For Your Consideration". It's just the episodes and doesn't include all the bonus features on the regular one. It might be for Emmy voters. But it seems to be available for anyone.
