It looks like it's exclusively through the Amazon App Store, although it works for all types of Android devices, not just Fire.

The Amazon App on the Google Play store mentions the separate Instant Video app from the Amazon App Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....android&hl=en

However, this page indicates that you can download the Instant Video app from within the Amazon App, perhaps without downloading the Amazon App Store app as well:

I'm doing the 30-day trial now.
What exclusive movies/shows does Prime have right now? Not necessarily Amazon-owned titles like Transparent. Just stuff that isn't on Netflix or Hulu+ at this point in time.

Hannibal
24
Grimm
Suits
Covert Affairs
The Americans
Under the Dome
Extant

are some of the TV shows I can think of that are Amazon exclusive.

The biggest exclusive to me is the old HBO stuff. I've been using Amazon's streaming since they launched and it's gotten much better over the years, in terms of selection, interface, and video quality. And it runs great on their Fire TV box. I find myself using AIV much more lately vs Netflix.

Netflix is the streaming king right now, but I can easily see Amazon eventually surpassing them due to their much larger pockets. As streaming gets more popular, licensing for exclusives will only go up.

The problem is they've neglected the interface on everything but the Amazon Fire.

I thought I read that all the 2014 Sony BD players got an updated AIV interface. Not sure about the X1 or PS4.

Does Amazon have any plans to offer an HTML5 option like Netflix? I'd think that they'd want to ditch Silverlight.

They already offer Flash as an alternative:

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

So I am on a shared ATT plan for my monthly data...internet use.

We have 30 GB and I am curious to how much data is used on a per hour or minute basis. I want to stream and watch 1-2 Star Trek TNG eps a week but worried it is a data hog. Anyone have statistics on this HD and SD?

I liked it as well. I'm glad they released the whole season at once instead of one episode a week like they did with the first two Amazon Originals. It seems like they realize the benefit of binge watching since season two of Alpha House will be released the same way. http://www.cnet.com/news/amazon-flag...-binge-oct-24/

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Transparent was renewed for a second season.

And yeah, the thing Amazon forgets about TV shows, is while they're on for up to 26 weeks they are also advertised constantly, and have lead-in shows.

Whatever happened to that Amazon pilot about a group of random survivors and the world was falling apart? I thought that was picked up for a full season. Did it get dumped? I can't even find the pilot on their site.

The After. It got picked up, but won't premiere until "early 2015."

Amazon is just releasing the shows as they become available. I'm guessing Transparent, being a half hour show with limited SFX, was able to complete their season before an hour long show that's likely FX heavy.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

I watched Transparent a few weeks back when it was first released. I enjoyed it and was surprised a bit. It isn't extremely great but I liked it. The creator was a writer on Six Feet Under and it has that kind of vibe. Jeffrey Tambor gives Emmy worth performances in several episodes.

My favorite movie of the year, Coherence, was added to Amazon Prime Instant... As was Night Moves and Palo Alto.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

They've added the autoplay-next-episode feature. Deadly timesuck.

EDIT: This was on PS3. It wasn't happening on Xbox One when I watched something.
