Academy Awards - $9.99 & Under Sale

http://www.vudu.com/movies/#uiList/11/0

Titanic is finally $9.99. I've been waiting a long time for a sale on that one. It's been stuck at $20+ for years.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Ok I'm sure this is not Vudu related. But I wasn't sure where to post this. What do people do eith the dvd/diigital copy's that come with Blu-ray's. Some are on a dvd that says dvd+ digital copy. Or on a dvd but just good for the Digital Copy.

You put in your dvd drive, either in a PC or Mac & rip this crap to a PC in Windows Media Player File (Wmv) or Itunes (mp4). I got tons of these dvds. I don't have a apple device so itunes is out. Even if I had a apple device I still would not rip to iTunes. I sure don't want to watch this low quality (standard) video on a tablet or any other device. I'm I the only other retard that things that way. What to do with all these dvds?

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

You're supposed to rip them to your computer's hard drive, but I've only done that with one of them just to see what it looked like- and it ended up getting wiped after I had my computer fixed and it won't let me re-load it now. What to do with them? I just keep them in the case as they are.

Well, Windows Media is pretty much dead, so if you want to use them, iTunes is your best bet. Since you said you don't want to do that, then I guess they're useless to you.

You could sell them, which is what I do. It helps defray the cost of the Blu-ray purchase. But it sounds like you have a lot of the disc-based ones. Disc-based Digital Copies were mostly phased out about 2 years ago, so you must have a lot of old ones. Digital copies have expiration dates (for redemption) on them, so a lot of yours are probably expired, in which case they're useless, so you might as well just throw them in the trash.

I did a pass on all of my old iTunes versions and out of maybe 10-15 I still hadn't redeemed that are disc based, about 5 of them still redeemed. But yeah, if you're hoping to get a UV version out of them, you're better off just buying them again. Or just use iTunes. It's not that bad really. I'm about 90% UV/10 % iTunes. I use iTunes, but rarely these days since I don't have an Apple TV.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

If you plan to trash them, post the digital codes out on the forum. Some people can still use them. Aside from Disney codes, the older iTunes codes that require digital copy discs aren't worth very much on the open market.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

If you have any codes from Disney movies, most of them are worth good money. Especially the ones in the vault. Digital copy codes for movies like Beauty & The Beast, Lion King, Lady & The Tramp, and Peter Pan can sell for $30+. Even the movies that aren't vaulted can sell for $5-$8 each.

I redeem all the HD codes. But your right I just checked 10 dvd digital codes & 9 of them were expired. All in the trash now.

Not sure why I would even want to rip to iTunes. I do not have a compatible Apple Device. And if I do eip it to iTunes on my
PC that is just a waste of hard drive space.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

I just verified that neither of the codes work within Vudu. So either you *did* redeem them earlier or some lurker snapped them up without a thanks.

BTW - Verification is pretty straightforward. Just be certain that you're *not* logged-in to Vudu and go through the normal redemption steps. If the code is valid, Vudu will prompt you to log in so the movie can be redeemed into your account. If the code is invalid, it will kick-out an error message right off.

Thanks for sharing them. I'm certain that someone still in the Apple ecosystem will be happy to have them.

Not UV. At least not yet. If you purchase it, it will only be viewable via Vudu and in the account you purchased it into. You will not be able to see it in any linked accounts.

Yes all codes I'm posting have been redeemed into UV/Vudu/Flixster, etc.
Was thinking if anyone wanted these for iTunes they could redeem in their iTunes account. I posted 18 more codes.

BTW, I'm not sure if you redeemed these 50 codes or not or what you planned to do with with them. If you want to post them here also, you can, as there are tricks that can be used for people to redeem them into an iTunes account without the physical DVD disc.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Thanks Kahuna for posting codes. For those who are attempting to redeem these in itunes, the following are single redemption, or UV only. If Kahuna has indeed redeemed the Vudu copy, then they won't work. There's a whole thread dedicated to multiple redemptions on blu-ray.com

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=236721

Penguins of Madagascar - single redemption UV or itunes
Goosebumps - UV only
San Andreas - UV only
Pacific Rim - UV only
Martian - single redemption UV or itunes
Jumanji - UV only
Taken 3 - single redemption UV or itunes

I have lots of stuff I've redeemed in iTunes in the cloud but not on my computer's hard drive. 155 GB worth, in fact.

Annoys the hell out of me, but I suppose that it's a legal issue with Apple or something.

Can't quite get that ISO to work, but whatever. I'm sure I could if I had more patience .

Your welcome. Titles have been removed from lists. Glad these movies were able to be redeemed with out the need for the dvd roms. Discs are now in the thrash.

Yeah, I neglected to mention this earlier. If you redeem it to iTunes, you can delete the file from your library immediately after, and it will still be in your "Purchased" history, so you can download it again in the future, or stream it to a compatible device. Or, using the ISO trick I posted, it never even copies/downloads the file in the first place, but still redeems it on your account.

This behavior is an artifact of the length of time the iTunes Store has been around. Way back when, before "in the Cloud" when you purchased something on iTunes, you had to download it immediately, and there was no re-downloading the purchase again later. Later, Apple added "in the Cloud" downloading so that purchases would always be available for download or streaming on your account at any time, even if you didn't download it at purchase time. Basically, how people expect the Cloud purchases to work these days.

Actually, I think it's more of a cost thing. The studio has to pay a fee to the providers for each digital copy that is redeemed. They make the codes redeemable on multiple services for consumers' convenience sake and to cut down on confusion/support costs. Most digital copies go unredeemed, which doesn't cost them anything, or at most redemption on one platform. People like us who maximize the redemptions across platforms cost the studios extra money. That's why the studios limit the supported platforms to one platform (usually UV only), and those that support multiple platforms have started to try to limit the redemptions to first platform on which the code is redeemed.

Disney codes share with Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Vudu through Disney movies anywhere, so even if you just have them for iTunes, they are quite useful.

That's what happened to me with the ISO trick. It was a little wonky, but it seems to be working.

Early digital copies were for iTunes. I think that once people realized that Apple was too isolationist, they broadened to UV.

And yet they want us to go digital. How nice.

I snatched up The Nightmare Before Christmas, Public Enemies, The Incredibles, The Princess and the Frog, The Expendables, Green Zone, Inglorious, Peter Pan, First Class. Those are the only once I had luck with. Thanks though!
