Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes
If you DO find yourself heading to a WM in the future, you might want to hedge your bets by doing what I've heard others sometimes do - put your HD DVD media and artwork in an unused BluRay case. I did not need to do that locally, though I can see how it might "help" get your HD DVDs to pass inspection.
Allegedly, any HD DVD disc would be eligible for a $5 conversion to HDX, if you believe this article:
Head to your local Walmart with your disc library and "exchange" each title for an HD streaming video copy for a small fee: $2 for a Blu-ray disc, $2 for an SD DVD, and $5 for an HD DVD.

Got this e-mail today:
I don't get it but I fucking love it! Now I regret not converting those other 5, but they're free with this regardless.
Edit: Looking through the few movies I've converted, I have to say I really am a fucking nerd. Beetlejuice, Blade Runner, The Crow, Dark City, Dark Knight, eXistenZ, Gattaca, Ghostbusters, Matrix, Mulholland Dr, Saw, Shaun of the Dead, Speed Racer, Star Trek, A Very Long Engagement and Wild Things amongst others. Thank god the freebies contained a few chick flicks to balance it out.
Hello,
Thank you for participating in our In-home Disc to Digital Beta program.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes
The D2D software has been updated. It's now Mac compatible. You get the first conversion FREE. And you get 50% Off when converting 10 or more discs.
Here's the press release:
Vudu disc-to-digital home Ultraviolet conversion software leaves beta, comes to Mac
It took some time to work out the bugs, but Vudu is finally removing the beta badge from its home-based disc-to-digital service. The idea and the price are still the same as when the beta launched, but what's new is support for OS X, plus an improved user experience and disc identification powered by Gracenote. We gave it a try and found the process couldn't be any easier or more straight forward.
To get others to try it out, Vudu is giving away the first conversion on the house and if you're willing to convert ten or more movies then you'll get a 50 percent discount. After converting a DVD to HDX we were instantly able to turn around and start watching it, far faster than any disc ripping software we've used. Add in the newfound ability to download movies to iOS and Android devices and UltraViolet is really shaping up -- though we're still waiting for that common file format to move copies between devices easily and single sign-on to fix the login mess.

Terms and Conditions
This Promotion is available from May 29, 2013 through August 31, 2013 (the "Promotion Period"). If you create a VUDU account during the Promotion Period or you have an existing account as of the start of the Promotion Period, VUDU will issue you a two dollar ($2.00 USD) credit, which will be automatically applied; however, the credit is only good towards your next conversion of a DVD or Blu-ray disc (each a "disc") via VUDU's In-Home Disc to Digital service. You are limited to one two-dollar ($2.00 USD) credit per user account during the Promotion Period. This credit will expire automatically ninety (90) days from the date on which VUDU issued the credit to you. Additionally, during the Promotion Period, if you convert ten (10) or more discs via VUDU's In-home Disc to Digital service in a single transaction (that is, you add ten (10) or more discs to your cart and check-out), you will receive a fifty percent (50%) discount off the pre-tax subtotal conversion fees for that transaction. These promotional discounts (collectively, the "Promotion") may not be combined with other promotions or offers from VUDU or Walmart or its affiliates. VUDU may declare this Promotion to be void where prohibited or restricted by applicable law. Eligibility for this Promotion, conversion of DVDs or Blu-ray discs, and use of the In-Home Disc to Digital service are subject to VUDU's Terms of Service. This Promotion expires automatically by its own terms by Midnight PST on the last day of the Promotion Period.

Holy Guacamole! That means a whole bunch of marginal titles in my collection are going to get converted in batches of ten or more. Wowzers!

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes
Are they discounting the price up front, or are they crediting it back to you Vudu account? The latter option is a lot less attractive than the former.

It appears to take 50% off after you add 10 to your cart, also DO NOT upgrade if you have movies in your cart already, it made mine disappear and locked them out from being converted.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes
I just did a dozen discs in one batch. As soon as I hit 10, the price in my cart was cut in half. At checkout, all Blus were $1 and all DVDs were $2.50.
