Caved and got the Hostel bundle, but checked the first movie and it's in the wrong ratio- 1.78 when it should be 2.35 (Super 35 so it at least isn't cropped.) It's 1.78 on all the other services except Google Play has it in 2.35, but sound there is only 2-channel. It may still be the unrated version also.

Man I will be happy once October is over and we can get some non-horror films on sale.

If you don’t have Shudder to stream it, I highly recommend One Cut of the Dead, which is on sale right now for $7.99.

$4.99 weekend scary movie deals: https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...end-Deals/8733

My pick: The House of the Devil. I swear, it looks exactly like an artifact from the early '80s Satanic panic era. (Be warned, it's a very slow burn.)

Also, Tucker and Dale is a romp, playing around with horror tropes.

The House of the Devil has wonderful atmosphere but it's one of the slowest burning movies ever made. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil is one of the best horror-comedies made this century.

I'd recommend The Sentinel from this sale, a creepy gem from the 70s.

Bliss
Daywatch
Splice
Spring

^ I have them on BD. They're all badass. The only one I scooped up was House of the Devil. The only good film Ti West has ever directed.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

Interesting censorship issue; so a few years back I bought the shows Banana and Cucumber as I tried to watch them on TV but couldn't stand how they were edited for broadcast. I'm just now getting around to them and I found that the versions up on Vudu are also semi-censored in that there is some nudity that is blurred out. A quick Google search showed that these scenes were clearly not censored on the original UK versions. The language is certainly not censored, but I do think some of the nudity is meant to be a punch line of sorts.

50's Films for $5 sale happening right now:

https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...lms-For-5/8801

There are some titles offered that are only in SD (e.g. Friendly Persuasion), then again there is at least 1 title in UHD that can be purchased for $5 (Vertigo).

Nice sale. Some (but not all) of them are at the same price on Amazon Video.

The Third Man is available in HD on Amazon for $4.99. Not MA though.

Rear Window is also available in UHD for $5, although War of the Worlds is normal price for the UHD version.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

I upgraded Vertigo and Rear Window and got a couple musicals, Royal Wedding and Daddy Long Legs.

I’ve complained before about The Third Man and other classics that are only in SD, especially for ones that they put on sale ALL THE TIME. I assume many people won’t buy them, but the numbers are probably so small regardless that Vudu probably doesn’t notice or care. I did once ping their CS about early seasons of HIMYM that weren’t in HD, and eventually they got there, so who knows, it may be worth a try again.

Thanks for the heads up. I picked up the UHD versions of Rear Window, Vertigo, and The Bridge on the River Kwai.

Would’ve gotten Bedtime for Bonzo but it’s only in SD. Regret passing on the DVD cheap at Ross a few years ago, but SD Vudu still looks worse than DVD.

No straight up $4.99 weekend sale, but some of the 50% off horror titles are marked down to that: https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...kend-Sale/8799

Mix and match classic horror, two for $14.99: https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/mixandmatch/40772

The original Halloween was on sale earlier this month and then went back to full price. I was hoping for an even better deal on it this weekend. No such luck. Oh, well. There's always next year.

That "Best of the 50s" 10-pack is tempting. May have to splurge.
