Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

TODAY ONLY - Watch any Free With Ads movie in the Last Chance To Watch section and get a $2 Vudu credit.

https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...ving-5-1/32073

I watched Semi-Pro. And after the movie, I noticed that it was available for purchase at a discounted price ($6.50). That's 50% Off the current price ($12.99). In the My Offers section, it says "Offer Expires In 5 Days".

Is anyone else getting a discount after watching Free With Ads movies?

Watch the same movie & got the same offer.

Wonder if I will be able to combine the $1, $5, & $2 credits on one purchase?

Thanks. Got it too (watched about 30 min of Vacation). Combined it with that $5 D2D credit and picked up DisneyNature Born in China for $2.99.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

In Deals of the Week currently is the complete 7 season run of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. 33 bucks, or less than 5 bucks a season. If you're not discriminating, you can always find this in syndication somewhere, I imagine, but if you consider Vudu's 'regular price' of $334, it seems like a steal!

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

I remember some here were worried about Vudu's longevity when news broke about Ultraviolet shutting down, but yesterday they announced they're getting into the original programming game. (Geared towards children and parents, including Blue's Clues first before it hits other outlets.) So it looks like Walmart is throwing a lot of bucks at the service.

Walmart’s Vudu shows off original content and shoppable ads, hints at interactive shows

Anthony Ha
@anthonyha / 2 days ago

Walmart -owned streaming service Vudu announced today that it will be launching new interactive shows later this year, created through the company’s joint venture with interactive content startup Eko.

This confirms a Bloomberg report that Walmart plans to debut several interactive new shows produced with Eko, along with shoppable ads.

We’d hoped that the company would take advantage of its NewFronts event for advertisers today to reveal more details about these plans, but Vudu Senior Director Julian Franco simply confirmed that the service will be “rolling out interactive content” later this year.

He then rolled a brief clip of what looked like a variety of scripted programs (I caught a glimpse of “Saturday Night Live” star Beck Bennett), while the voiceover declared, “You don’t just watch Eko stories, you control them.”

The video also said the content will cover a variety of genres, including comedy, drama and thrillers.

Franco had more details to share when it came to Vudu’s plans for non-interactive, original content. He announced that the service is producing (in partnership with eOne and Bell Canada) “Albedo,” a science fiction detective series from “Rampage” director Brad Peyton that will premiere next year, and will mark “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly’s return to TV. In addition, the first three episodes of Nickelodeon’s remake “Blues Clues & You” will premiere on Vudu before they air on linear TV.

Also in the works are unscripted shows like “Turning Point with Randy Jackson” and “Friends in Strange Places,” a travel show with Queen Latifah.

In total, the service will be premiering around a dozen original movies and TV shows later this year, Franco said. It might seem tough for Vudu to stand out in the crowded landscape of streaming companies spending big bucks on original content, but he argued that it will be differentiated by a focus on creating content for kids, for their parents and for entire families to watch together.

“We’re not just going to be programming for Williamsburg and Silver Lake,” he said.

As for those shoppable ads, Vudu Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product Scott Blanksteen said the service is already testing them. These are ads that allow you to purchase the featured products through a pop-up window. He added that these ads are dynamic, changing based on viewer preferences.

Blanksteen also announced Vudu Audience Extension, an ad network that will allow advertisers to buy campaigns through Vudu that will also run on other streaming media services.

“The future of TV looks a lot like the TV of the past — ad-supported, premium content that brings people together,” he said.

Nice dig at "hip and edgy" programming up there. Ha. WM knows where their bread is buttered.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Most newer WB codes, including any reissued codes for code redeem issues, can only be redeemed on MA or VUDU. Not FandangoNow, Google Play, iTunes. So VUDU has secured new FOX, Universal, and now WB. If Sony follows VUDU will be a MA powerhouse.

Pretty sloppy to have a headline of “Seth ROGAN Sale.”

I think it got fixed.

And it's still not as sloppy as putting up a picture of Julianne Moore for the Nicole Kidman Collection. And that never got fixed.

Awesome. That's a crazy good price for the two movies in that resolution, especially after the credits. $4! Thanks for the head up.

That deal is even better now because for the time being it includes $5 towards a John Wick ticket. (As do some other titles.) Damn. Had I known I would've waited. Oh well.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Some good titles in the MD sale but not amazing prices.

I wish Sony, Fox, Warner, etc. would release more collections of their classic films, war and otherwise. We’ve seen a number of “decade” collections and genre collections mostly from the last two decades, but I’d love to see more of what Warner has started to do with their Silver Screen Icons collections (available on iTunes and Xbox but oddly not VUDU as far as I can tell). They might think the digital audience wouldn’t go for it, but a good collection at the right price might work. Even if someone only wanted three of the five titles in a bundle, if the price is still cheaper they’ll get the bundle, and then you’ve gotten market penetration.

Noticed Die Hard 1, 2 and 3 are all available on Vudu in 4K for $9.99 each. 2 & 3 don't have physical 4K releases yet so this seems like a good option.
4 & 5 are not available in 4K, breaking nobody's hearts.
