Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

It's totally going to be unskippable credits put in a small window with advertising around it, or ads while you're fast forwarding or some other intrusive thing. And I said it before, the main effect to people who already subscribe are those who get it "free" with something else because that "free with" is going to be the ad tier soon enough (plus the next time they raise prices to make the ad tier look like a better deal)

It's always super obvious too, so I'm hoping they just figure out where to insert the commercials without doing cut to black screen thing.
Tubi, for instance, does a great job with ad warnings and it's so simple. A countdown timer to the ad break.

Always preferred that type of intrusiveness rather than abruptness, killing the viewability flow.

Netflix is going to announce their quarter earnings at some point today. It could be more bad news for them.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Yeah, they're currently up $15/share in after hours trading to $216. The market was on a roll today.

They so heavily floated that they were going to lose 2M subscribers that coming in at < 50% of that definitely helped.

Of course, any bump in the road or just the fact that the day of the week ends in "day", the market is likely to claim all that back.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Not that this is really pressing news. But, Breaking Bad will be leaving Netflix in 2025

If you haven't watched it by now or don't own the discs or have a digital copy, you probably don't care.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

The new Netflix documentary series Street Food USA is worth watching if any of you like food documentary series with background stories of the people behind it.

It's 6 parts and 30 minutes each. I finished it all in 1 day. I believe this is the 3rd season. There is a street food Asia and street food Latin America seasons.

Big fans of docs like this and it was a good series. If you're not hungry, you will be.

yeah, this series is great to watch when you are stoned.

Another series I really liked was "How to Change Your Mind" about peyote, magic mushrooms, LSD and MDMA. Though the Peyote episode was kind of lame, because they never really got into what a peyote trip was like. Just that it's in low supply and needed for Native ceremonies, so we shouldn't take it.

I'll stick with the no ads tier and I've never taken advantage of the download feature.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Just started season 1 of Designated Survivor on Netflix.

So basically the show is what 24 would be like if Jack Bauer became president?

Kiefer's character Tom Kirkman is nothing at all like Jack Bauer.

Thank you for showing restraint and not just making a random thread with this as the title.

Because you've made several threads with questions that could easily have been answered by just googling the question.

I did a quick Google search and apparently that sort of thing happens a lot.

Designated Survivor was pretty good for the first season. Each subsequent season got worse, and really dropped off a cliff when Netflix took it over. "Hey everybody, we can swear now!! Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck."

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Why doesn't Netflix make the option to buy a full season and or series set? That way if it gets removed you would still be able to stream it on the accounts that purchased them?

If the series gets removed, doesn’t that mean Netflix doesn’t own it?

Now if you’re talking about HBO Max…

Probably confusion. It'd be like Amazon Prime where some people can't seem to tell what's actually included or requires an additional purchase.

Plus there'd be a perception by some that they're removing shows to make additional profit, which isn't a look they want.
