Amazon Prime - $7.99 Monthly Plan
Looks like Amazon is now offering a $7.99 monthly subscription to Prime.
Amazon Testing a $7.99 Per Month Prime Subscription Reader Scott noticed that Amazon is now testing a $7.99 per month Prime subscription (instead of $79 per year), a price that is very familiar to Netflix and Hulu Plus subscribers. I was able to confirm the pricing on the Amazon website and capture a screen shot: http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/7902/amazonprime.jpg It looks like Amazon just got serious about competing in the U.S. with Netflix and Hulu. Amazon Prime at $7.99 per month ($95.88 per year), when combined with the recent movie & TV show deals (Epix, NBC Universal), free 2-day shipping, and a free monthly ebook, is looking like a really good deal. http://www.hackingnetflix.com/2012/1...scription.html |

hope this doesn't mean an increase in the yearly price.

Of course it will! Luckily, I'm on student prime pricing for another 2 years. |

Just in time for Black Friday

Not bad for shipping during the holiday period. However, I think their streaming sucks on the PS3. I never get more than 2 bars and I have a 10 meg DL speed. So streaming doesn't enter the equation for me.

Re: Amazon Prime - $7.99 Monthly Plan
Question is, when will Amazon actually get a much larger selection of streamable content you don't have to pay for under Prime? Netflix still takes the cake in this regard. Ah well. I still am going to have Prime because I save a ton of money on shipping, as well as my own time and gas.

Nice deal. A monthly prime plan is perfect for me for the 2-day shipping. The stream video is just a plus.

When I go to amazon mine still shows $79.99 for a year.

Re: Amazon Prime - $7.99 Monthly Plan
According to all the reports I've read, the yearly price is not changing. The monthly plan is more expensive in total if you keep it for 12 months, but it offers people the option to, for example, only do prime during the holidays when they're ordering a bunch of stuff or only do it in the winter months when they stream a lot more movies, ultimately paying less than if the yearly price was the only option.

Re: Amazon Prime - $7.99 Monthly Plan
Makes me wonder if Netflix will offer a $2 weekly stream plan.

The monthly works great for me as I can get a month or two to watch some titles . I did not want to pay the whole year. |

A big fat YOU SUCK to Amazon. I went to sign up for this and can't find it anywhere. I guess it's dead.

Re: Amazon Prime - $7.99 Monthly Plan
I would think they would roll this out AFTER Black Friday.
