Re: The Roku Thread
Here's the Roku Premiere+. It'll replace the Roku 3. There's an Ethernet port and a MicroSD slot.

Here's the Roku Ultra. It replaces the Roku 4. In addition to the Ethernet & MicroSD, it has an Optical Audio port and a Remote Finder button.

Optical out but no analog video out? Whatever. Just hope for whoever uses that, it doesn't downconvert Dolby Digital Plus as badly as my Sharp TV does.

Re: The Roku Thread
Unless the Roku has a built-in Digital-to-Analog video converter, HDMI to RCA cables would do absolutely nothing.

I made the mistake of buying the cable at Radio Shack (before I checked Amazon) and paid a lot more for it.

Re: The Roku Thread
Got my first Roku (a Roku 4) so not that familiar with it (previously dealt with the abominable Fire TV). Anyone know why--when I first start it up--I always get a flashing menu saying there's a CEC 100 error, but if I just wait it out for a minute, everything works normally and the flashing error disappears?

In fact, I'll be doing that with my Harmony One universal remote.

CEC is the auto control so that the Roku can control the TV, it's been an on-again off-again issue with multiple revisions of the Roku but for some reason they never added a disable HDMI-CEC to the menu. So if you aren't using the feature on your TV, disable it.
Presumably so, still USB 2.0 but I guess that doesn't matter a whole lot.

Re: The Roku Thread
My Roku stick has a Control Other Devices setting with a 1-touch play option that can be enabled or disabled which I believe is the HDMI-CEC stuff.

Depends on your TV manufacturer.

Re: The Roku Thread
I'm tempted to buy one of these new models. But without a 4K TV, I don't see much reason to upgrade from my Roku 3.

Re: The Roku Thread
Other than price, is there anything that makes the Express better than the Stick? I'm in the market for a device. I like the portability of the stick, but I also like saving money.

Re: The Roku Thread
I'm liking the updated Red Bull TV app. They've been streaming Austin City Limits Fest live all weekend across 3 different channels/feeds and are airing the Fourth Phase (the follow-up to The Art of Flight) at 9.
Pros: All free, no real ads
Cons: Video quality isn't the greatest, 2.0 audio.
Still really cool though. But I think they're really close to their bandwidth capacity heh

Re: The Roku Thread
So umm... I can't remember if it was here or another site, but I can't find it...
Someone mentioned a Roku app (possibly a private app) that lets you stream a bunch of TV channels live, including some cable channels. Any idea what that app my be?
