Hearing about these promotions that I should be eligible for but never receive only makes me hate a company more.

Find mine in my junk folder. I honestly had only received the basic setup emails for my Roku and that was it...so it was a little bit of a surprise. My Roku sits in the master bedroom and basically only gets used by my wife if she doesn't want to wait for me to finish a game I'm playing.

I used my free Vudu rental to get the latest Resident Evil movie. So I'm doing a Resident Evil marathon tonight, since I own the first five. Watching the first one right now.

BBC America is now available on the Roku.

https://channelstore.roku.com/detail...43/bbc-america

You'll need to activate it with a cable or satellite provider.

Looks like they have all 5 seasons of Orphan Black. There's also The Graham Norton Show, Top Gear, Dragon's Den, Dirk Gently, Dr Who, Torchwood and a few other shows.

XTV is no more.

Roku deleted it from my box after the latest system update. Apparently they have been cracking on pirated channels and this channel fell into that realm.

If it's still in your box, it will be deleted once you do the newest system update.

I had some channels disappear after a system update once... And I simply had to reinstall them... Although nothing was unofficial... It was stuff you wouldn't expect to disappear... Like Neflix and some others...

Did you try to reinstall the channel?

Good, pirating sucks.

Re: The Roku Thread

Imo I think they are only cracking down on pirated channels because they are gonna go public with a stock in 2018. Could see a lot of these places reappear again in the future.

I knew it was inevitable. I was enjoying watching some old TV shows on it (Addams Family, etc.) and some other odds and ends. My daughter loved the old Marvel cartoons too.

I am actually surprised it lasted this long to be honest.

It's still on my Roku 3. I ran the system update, and it's still there. Also, the XTV app was updated on 8/30. Tested out a couple shows, and it worked fine.

I haven't had any channels deleted. Usually, if the channel is shut down, it just stops opening. But the icon is still there until I remove it.

Looks like you can still add the channel:

Yeah 5 days later after posting that, the app just came back out of the blue.

So strange. It disappears and then I do an update again a few days ago, it comes back.

Oh well, we'll see how long it stays functioning.

Didn't Roku do maintenance one day last week that maybe effected some Roku units?

Re: The Roku Thread

Roku To Offer Its Own Ad-Supported Movie Channel

The new channel offering will require no subscription, fee or login, the company says. It will offer movies like Ali, The Karate Kid, Legally Blonde and others from various studios, including Lionsgate, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Brothers. It also will help existing channel publishers, such as American Classics, Fandor, FilmRise, Nosey and Popcornflix, to increase viewership, says the Los Gatos, Calif., -based company.

Roku expects the new channel to have about half as many ads per program hour as linear TV. The strategy of offering ad-supported content is smart for any new network seeking to get its footing, particularly when a channel must capture the attention of customers who can already choose from hundreds of others, says Leichtman. Roku is starting from “ground zero” with the channel, he says. Making it free can help to propel the channel to a position of prominence in the minds of consumers.

Roku plans to roll out the new channel in phases over the coming weeks.

Yup, Goodbye XTV. It's been banned. As soon as you do another system update, it's gone.

I still have it right now as I haven't done a system update yet.

Re: The Roku Thread

If Roku wants to ban channels then You Tube and Daily Motion should be at the top of the list but however Roku has a double standard concerning those two channels which has just about as much copyright prohibited material as any other.

My XTV stopped working even without a system update.

I used XTV for some of the classic Marvel cartoons which my daughter loved. I would gladly buy the Spiderman '67 set but it is out of print.

cCloud is still around on Roku but most of the links don't work. One day some of them work and the next they don't. The picture quality isn't the best.
