Only took a one-day trial for me to see how much it sucked.

I want to like Hulu, I really do. But each time I give a free trial a spin I realize I hate it. Do they still do that "this content is only viewable on a computer" crap? Until that ends, I just can't do it, even if they have the Criterion listings.

My wife and I are loving this. Sucky movie selection but the TV choices more than make up for it. Testing it out to determine whether to drop cable, so far this may work.

is everything on the plus version filled with commercials?

Not filled.... But there are commercials....

The Criterion movies are commercial-free.

I was a subscriber twice, and dropped it both times because I hated the ads. But I'd pay double the current rate for an ad-free version.

I love Hulu, I hate Hulu+.

Angel, Battlestar, Buffy, Desperate Housewives, Lost... what else is there?

What's worse is the recent Hulu memo about the networks wanting even more ads (Fox wants four per break).

I'm enjoying Hulu+ for now. Sure, the commercials are kind of annoying, but it's not the end of the world. Like TheBigDave, I'd gladly pay double to ditch the commercials, though.

Currently, I'm watching Standoff on Hulu+. From what I recall, that show's not even available on DVD. :) My wife powered through Once Upon a Time, and we both got caught up on the most recent season of Parks & Rec.

I haven't dived into the Criterion flicks, but there's definitely a few I plan to watch. Overall, the free trial has been great, and I think it's worth the $8 to keep it going.

The more I think about Hulu, the more I like Netflix.

I'd like to get Hulu+ for their Criterion affiliation, but if I'm paying for something extra I expect it to be commercial free. Unless they ditch the commercials I can't see myself signing up. I'll stick with Netflix & Amazon. I just wish the latter would add Kojak. Man, that's a great show!

Re: Hulu Plus now has a 2-Month free trial

Hulu has an overall terrible selection, but if you want to see Criterions it's totally worth it, at least for a while. The way I see it, Hulu is $8 per month, and blind-buying Criterions at $30-$40 a pop is pretty risky. So I say sign up for a month and mine their selections. It's great if there are any movies you were on the fence about, or if you want to explore a bit.

But yeah, aside from that there isn't a lot to like from Hulu. Their search selection integrates clips and trailers alongside the actual movies, so there's a lot of garbage to mine through when you're just browsing for movies to add to your queue. And they seem to update their movies so rarely, or at least with nothing I'd want to see.

Hulu will be lucky if they're around in two months.

Re: Hulu Plus now has a 2-Month free trial

I just got bit in the ass by Hulu yet again. I decided to give it one more shot by signing up for a free trial to see if anything has changed, and it's just as awful as ever. So far everything, every single thing, I have searched for using my TV app either isn't found or it is only available as "Web Only".

If it's going to be web only, and I'm not ashamed to say it, then screw it. I'll gladly just keep downloading shows weekly. I'd love to have a service like this where a lot of it is up on an app for my TV and could watch them on demand, and I'd throw my money and whatever service offered it.

Right now as I type this I'm trying to play something that actually is available, and landed on the most recent episode of The Office. Yep, it's there to watch on my TV, but it isn't working. I've been sitting here trying to wait and let it load for the past five minutes and it has yet to start at all. This is just freakin' ridiculous.

That stinks. I signed up using a 1-month free deal 2 weeks ago. Oh well, I honestly haven't used it all that much.

Hulu Plus would be better if they get rid of the Dish user tier. I mean, really, even if you actually pay for Hulu Plus, yo still can't watch something unless you also subscribe to Dish. Ridiculous.

What? I do not have Dish & pay the $8 for Hulu Plus, I haven't been restricted from watching anything.

I received a gift subscription for Christmas. It's been a while since I'd used Hulu Plus. But I'm remembering while I dislike it so much. The library is way too limited and the commercials are annoying.

I wish they'd offer a higher tier of the full Hulu catalog and no commercials. I'd be willing to pay $20-$25/month for something like that.

There's two different messages if you can't open a video 1) You need Hulu Plus or 2) Subscribe to a provider like Dish or some other cable provider. I've seen the latter message for Helix and Burn Notice before.

Besides that, seems like episodes just disappear. For example, Witches at East End used to have full episodes, now it's just clips.

Re: Hulu Plus now has a 2-Month free trial

Episodes do disappear, not too substantially different from VoD.

Cable stuff does seem to be hit or miss in terms of play-ability on Mobile and TV devices. It's annoying.

I mostly use Hulu to catch up on broadcast crap since I don't have a DVR and VoD has way too many ads.

Watched The Simpsons "Steal This Episode" on Hulu Desktop (so no onscreen logos) - loved Homer's "If I wanted to pay for commercials I can't skip, I'd have signed up for Hulu Plus!"
