I've heard rumors about this and them going to an e-mail only CS doesn't help.
I'm looking to buy a scanner from them but I'm having second thoughts.

This is a good question. I ordered several anime titles and their status is on order. Every other web site has them in stock and ready to ship. If you don't e-mail buy about some pre-orders they won't ship on time like they used to. What's up with this.

I don't know if Buy.com is going out of business, but they aren't doing well. FWIW, I purchased a digital camera from them back during their free shipping days in February and had no problems. However, I have ordered some anime from them around New Year's, and they have been "On Order" since despite their site claiming an availability of "24-48 Hours" to ship. Furthermore, they have told me that they do not have an estimated time of arrival for the anime ordered. Unfortunately, I can do nothing but wait since I purchased with some GCs that I had.
