I just ordered for the first time from amazon. Gladiator was free shipping and with the GCs from Jaboom it was totally free

Anyway I'd like to know about how many days it takes before you receive your DVD fellow Canadians? It says I should recieve mine between February 1 and February 28, I'd like more precision

Thanks

They usually send it via Purolator and it usually takes about 10 days. And whatever the size of your order, it will pass the customs without being charged.

The only downside is when you order a single DVD, Amazon use these tiny boxes, not really stronger than a padded enveloppe. On the three they send me in the recent weeks, Purolator lost one and destroyed the cases of the two others. So, from now on I place only larger order to ensure that the merchandise is received undammaged.

Same here: about 10 calendar days.

Purolator has also screwed up my shipments. One package of 3 DVDs was missing 2 of them! The bottom of the box was sloppily retaped and the weight on the waybill didn't match the weight of the package, so it was picked and packed correctly at Amazon. Some Purolator employee is watching my movies.

But Amazon was great about it and even called it a "mixup". Sent me replacement right away.

I don't mind all the Purolator screwups when the only other option is DHL which charges customs without fault - even when they lose the package!

When I ship to Canada, it takes about 9 days to reach. Sometimes, not often, it takes 10 days. That's normal, not business days. On the subject of Purolator, I never have anything but great service from them. Never a problem in 30+ orders. And I ordered everything from single dvds to orders of 8 dvd's. Never a customs charge either from Purolator. DHL is another matter, they charge me customs everytime, but I never pay them. Just throw the slip away. What are they gonna do, arrest me? Besides the only reason I ever use DHL is that Amazon screwed up my order and has to send me something by DHL express. It's not my fault and I certainly shouldn't have to pay customs.

I've had DHL ship to me using express. Didn't get charged customs at all. This was a 2 dvd order as well. Also have placed orders with purolator and so far no missing/misplaced dvds

I've had about 40 shipments from amazon over the last year (all free with gcs) Most took about seven business days. A few took 3 weeks after they shipped.. all depends on purolator i guess (no duty on any purolator package yet). I had two through DHL and was dinged heavy duty, so never again..

I have another question. What happens if the purolator guy comes when no one is there to answer? Does he leave the package or he needs a signature? If he needs a signature does he leave a message saying when he will come back?

yup, he leaves a note saying he will be back. I always drive to a depo and pick them up. you can sign the slip and tell him to just leave it as well..

How do you choose between Purolator or DHL? Do they choose it or can you specify it somehow?

"Worldmail" is Purolator

"International Priority " is DHL

Basically, don't touch anything on the shipping screen as the default option is Worldmail.
