I rented Scream 2 at netflix hoping for the collectors eddition. They sent me the bare bones version. You can't rent the unrated version of Road Rules either. Sup?

Scream 2 was never released by itself in the collector's edition form. Thats only available in the box set.

As for the unrated version of Road Trip? You wont find it at Netflix. You need to go to non-mainstream, indie video stores. Not Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. Ones that rent porn.

Thanks for the info. I thought netflix had every DVD released. Interestingly netflix does rent adult films so I thought that the unrated version of Road Trip would be available.

My question also speaks on how to determine which film you are getting from netflix. As you know, some DVDs are released more than once and with different features.

Netflix told me at this time they are no way of picking which version of the film you are going to get - although they are "looking into it".

Actually in my experiecnce Netflix rarley gets in Special Editions to replace bare bones movies. I'd guess they might replace the BB copie with SE after they are unplayable but a quick check shows only one version of Seven and Bad Boys available, both stripped. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif

Strange... I guess they pulled it? Seems to be stuck in the "released to ship" mode for 2 days now too, along with The Cell.

Re: unrated versions, I don't believe it's true that Netflix does not rent unrated versions, unless they recently changed their policy. I personally rented American Pie: Unrated from them.

Re: shipping delays, I too have noticed that things get "released to ship" and then just sit there for several days. This really sucks since it cuts down on the turn around time and, hence, the number of DVDs you can rent in a month. First, increased prices. Then, changing their "check in" policy to "four" days after sending in instead of right after mailing. Now, this?

I have often received the unrated version of movies from Netflix. Right now I have the unrated version of Road Trip at home, got it this weekend and am going to watch it tonight. Should ship it out tomorrow if anyone is waiting for it.

However they definitely don't have a policy of not shipping unrated versions. But, I have no idea how to pick which one you will get. Some movies I have seen both listed so you can pick, but for Road Trip this was just the one that came up when I picked it.
