I ordered 5 titles, Silence of the Lambs Criterion, Third Man Criterion, Walkabout Criterion, Titus, and Brazil Criterion. I used a $30 off $150 to do it. My total after shipping was about $127.

I received the first 3 quickly, but Titus and Brazil are still "On Order." They were in stock according to Buy when I ordered, but I see now that Titus will re-release in March, and as for Brazil, well, who knows?

The thing is, Buy charged my Visa for the 3 they shipped, and they took the $30 off already.

So, my question is, can I cancel Titus and Brazil, and that's that? Or will Buy not let me because then the coupon would not have been valid (since it was for a $150+ order only)?

If you know, please help.

Thanks in advance!
Jon

I have successfully canceled items in the past....even recently.....without it affecting my coupon!!! Do so at your own risk but I do not believe you will experience any problems....cancel via their website.....do not call and speak with a CSR!!! It takes about one or two days for their website to update the fact that you cancelled an item. People will tell you Buy.com is horrible at cancelling items....this is true for in-stock items...if these are preorders you will not have any problem. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

File a complaint for what???? They only charged him for the three which have shipped already!!! He will be able to cancel these on their website as I have done in the past and still be able to take advantage of the coupon he used!! When you use a coupon through buy.com they apply the coupon first so basically his first $30 of the three titles was free money!! I have cancelled in the past with no problem while taking advantage of the full value of the coupon!! It is Buy.com's loss, not JonTurner's loss.....

It will not do any good to file a complaint just because a website listed something in stock which turned out to be out of stock...

Thanks for all the advice... I've canceled the two that haven't shipped - they're not preorders, but they are "on order," so not being in stock, I expect it will work.

Only thing that irks me is how easy it would be to use a $30 off $150, and just order about $40 worth that are in stock + the rest in preorders, then cancel the preorders when the first shipment comes! This seems too easy and (don't gasp), unfair to Buy.

But, whatever, all's good in DVD land.

Thanks,
Jon

There's no need to get hostile. The guy probably just jumped in without reading the whole post thinking he could help out. Not that we'd ever need to file a complaint against buy.com!

Be VERY careful about cancelling. IF , and this is a big if, they catch on to what you are doing, they wount cancel it. It will say cancellation requested until the day the title comes out,and they ship it to you. I had a 50/50 success rate. If it shows that it says cancel after 2 days, it IS cancelled. if after 3 days it says cancllation requested, then they DIDNT cancel it. So if it still says cancellation requested,it means they will ship it to you eventually, so dont go buy it elsewhere!

tomcale,

There's no need to be so hostile. I've emailed you a warning about this and all your "you've got that right" posts. <center>
