My Shipper Effed Up My Package Thread

Anyway, ordered an anime set and got it from USPS, which must have been drop-kicked to my doorstep. Fucking ridiculous. Luckily, getting another one.

Reminds me of this incident which was all over the news about USPS throwing a package:

Re: My Shipper Effed Up My Package Thread

I've had plenty of damaged shipments over the years. So much so that Amazon sent me a threatening e-mail back in March warning of restocking fees/partial refunds if they received another return from me that was "not in original condition". Oh, you mean the condition it was delivered to my door in? That's not good enough condition for you to accept, Amazon? My mind is still reeling that they would pull that crap with me. "Customer obsession" my ass. This was after 8 returns/exchanges in one year, with the most expensive item being $40.

Needless to say, the world has exploded in the last two months. I've become wary of even shopping on Amazon again for fear that the next damaged item could get me permanently blacklisted. Instead, I tried switching my business over to WalMart.com. Unfortunately, they have a ton of shortcomings as well. Back on Black Friday, someone at LaserShip scanned my order as "Delivered". It never showed up. I also went through some ceiling light fixtures back in January that didn't work out, but at least those were easily returned in store with little hassle.

Right as the pandemic started blowing up stateside, I'd ordered my brother four items from WalMart.com for his birthday. The shipment (understandably) got delayed, plus my bro ended up not travelling in due to the shelter in place order. So I opted to just send him a check instead and shipped the gifts back for a refund after they finally showed up. I was a bit worried about making too many returns in a row on my Wal-Mart account. God forbid I get blacklisted by Amazon AND WalMart.com when every other retailer's fate is hanging in the balance. Anyway, I decided to only focus on essentials for all future online orders.

I've been buying my groceries at the local Kroger, which is just a couple miles up the road. I've been avoiding stepping into Wal-Mart like the plague, since it has way more foot traffic than any store in town and there are new coronavirus cases reported here every day. I have low immunity on the best of days, so I'm extremely paranoid. The only thing I could not buy at the grocery store that I still needed was my cat's brand of food and some engine oil. So I opted to buy those items on WalMart.com. I was still a few dollars short of the $35 for free shipping, so I called my dad and asked if there was anything he needed that he wasn't finding at the grocery store. He requested some cheap grass seed, saying any kind would do.

I placed the order last week. The seed arrived after a couple days, but the box was leaking white powder upon delivery. I opened it and the bag was covered in white residue (seed coating, I presume). The bag itself was in rough shape and the planting instructions were smeared off the bag. So I looked up the product on the manufacturer's site and discovered this particular seed formula is meant for the northern part of the US (we're in the south). I never knew standard grass seed came in region specific varieties and it doesn't mention this anywhere on the bag itself. I wasn't even sure it was returnable or worth the hassle of bothering.

Cut to the other night and I get an e-mail saying the cat food and oil were being refunded because something had gone wrong. I checked my account and it shows "Customer return". I didn't return anything, but now my account is reflecting 7 orders in a row (12 items) all being returned by me. I checked the tracking and it shows the package made it to my town, but was marked "Unable to deliver shipment - returning to shipper". Maybe the food bag busted or the oil container started leaking in the box? Whatever the reason, I've never had this happen before from any vendor. Again, I'm worried about getting on WalMart.com's shit list. Looks like I'll have to venture out to an actual store and find this stuff instead of rebuying it again online. I was so irked by the situation that I did try returning the stupid northern grass seed. Their system issued an automatic refund and told me to dispose of the product.

You sure it said that? A couple of weeks ago I had a shipment that contained three items totaling just under $40, it shipped from Kentucky then was somehow routed over to Florida and I got an email saying that my order had become "Undeliverable." I got my refund but Amazon did not replace the order. Granted, I'm not on their shitlist for reporting damaged products.

Yes, that's what it says. But this was Wal-Mart (shipped via FedEx), not Amazon.

Gotcha. I missed the part that said Wal-mart.

Do you have a Target in your area? They have motor oil you can order via their app and you can just drive up and they'll put it in your trunk.

Nearest Target is 40 minutes away. I need a particular diesel oil and they don't have it on the site anyway. I can do in-store pick-up at Wal-Mart, but you still have to go in the back of the store for that (or did before all this mess started). They offer drive-thru pick-up for groceries, I just wish they could utilize that for some essential general merchandise as well - even temporarily.

Re: My Shipper Effed Up My Package Thread

Just need to vent about FedEx for a moment. I've had a couple of packages on the truck for delivery for 2 days now. Scheduled for delivery yesterday, on the truck, status changed to pending after 5PM, then became scheduled for delivery today. Now here it is after 5PM again and its back to Pending. This means I've had packages being driven all around town for two days and not even one attempt has been made to deliver them.

UPS hasn't done this, USPS hasn't done this. I get with the current crisis things might be slower to arrive, but why overload the trucks? And if you do, give fucking priority to the items that have been in the damn truck from the day before. I don't believe that they haven't had the time in 2 days to drop my packages off when it doesn't seem to be an issue for the other services.

I really hate that most places won't let you choose who ships your items.

EDIT: Got my packages today afterall. Finally delivered around 8PM. The pending thing might be automatic after 5.

The delivery services are breaking under the strain of increased volume during the pandemic. Their business plan and networks just weren't built to handle 50 million more customers overnight.

I'm experiencing the same thing with FedEx. A TV got shipped, and was scheduled to arrive Wednesday. It didn't arrive, and has been pending 45 miles from me for the last 2 1/2 days. 45 miles away with no progress, and a few hours away from three full days!

*UPDATE* 5 full days.
