I have not ordered from 800.com since their free shipping ended (seems like over a year). If I pre-order about 5 DVD's from them with different release dates, will they ship them as they become available? This seems like a stupid question, but I was reading their policies and it said that pre-ordered items may delay items with current availability. I KNOW that this looks like the answer to my question, but I find it near impossible to believe. Will they actually hold all the moves until they are available and ship them all at once?

My American Psycho Unrated was shipped on the street date, 9/5.

I like 800.com, even though I don't shop there as often as other places *cough* buy.com *cough*. But I do like them because of the tracking number used and the free popcorn. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have always heard that 800.com wil make separate shipments on pre-orders, even when you check the "ship all at once" button to save on shipping.

This proved to be true for me when I ordered the Fly set along with Jurassic Park with a coupon.

They shipped me the Fly without waiting.

Thanks guys. I asked this question because of a 20.00 off 100.00 coupon I received from them in this mornings email. There are a handful of movies coming out over the next couple weeks I would like to pre-order, but I have been waiting for more coupons to become available. They have fair prices and modest shipping costs...add a coupon and it doesn't seem like a bad deal. anybody else have anything to say about 800.com?

I have ordered from 800.com many times, with no problems at all. I always check the "wait until everything is ready to ship" option. Yet, they always ship everything except the last DVD for free as soon as it is available. They charge your credit card pro rata for the prices of the DVDs as they ship, and they include free microwave popcorn with every shipment. Also, their $1.95 shipping price is about the best online, which offsets the dollar or so more in the list prices of their items.

I placed an order with them last night using the $20 off $100... ordered two pre-orders (Ultimate Toy Box and Jurassic Park) and two currently availables (The 10th Kingdom and Braveheart). I chose the Ship Everything Together option because I'm moving to a new apartment in a week, so I gave them my new address and figured everything would ship in late October. Well guess what? Nice, thoughtful 800.com decided to ship my non-preorders today! It was nice of them, I suppose. They didn't charge me extra for shipping. But now I have to worry that they will get lost or stolen in the 5 days between when they are delivered and when I move in. I've already talked to 800.com and my landlord, and everything should be ok, but it's still a little annoying since I chose "send everything together." 800.com CSR told me that their policy is not to hold up orders if the only thing they are waiting on is a pre-order. He also reassured me that if the items are lost/stolen that 800 will replace them. I've ordered a lot from them, and they have always been very, very helpful, so I believe it - but it's still frustrating. Ok, I'm done ranting now http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

I just got an Email confirmation that REPO MAN (non-Tin) is close to being shipped!!!!

If you expect an Anchor Bay title from 800.com around the release date, dont. They dont order any until the release date and then it 3-4 weeks later you get it. I expect Philadelphia Experiment (I think the release date is 9/18) to come in mid October.

Dont know about their shipping except they say on their web site if you order titles with different availability to make seperate orders if you want them when they get them.

Nice to hear they dont hold to this at times but how can you make sure?

blakwngbrd 09-15-00 09:55 PM

I think the only way to be sure is to place separate orders. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that and still use my $20 off $100 coupon. Well, for the incredible deal I got, I will stop complaining http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

On my last 3 orders in the last 3 months, they ship DVDs as they are released although I always choose the ship-together option. This is for DVDs that are released one week apart or one month apart.

They add free popcorn with each shipment: one order, 3 DVDs (one per week), 3 packs of popcorn. With their prices and shipment costs, I think they are doing a great job.

Hmm. I deleted that message without looking at it. I got the 20$ off 100$ too. Yesterday I was checking some prices on DVDs and 800.com had quite a few Fox DVDs at over 40% off. Looks like I may be using this one.

If you choose the "ship together" option, our policy is to hold the shipment until all the items arrive. Sometimes, however, our warehouse does decide to ship partial orders (at no extra cost to you). No guarantees though.

earnestrp -- I understand about the problems with the Anchor Bay titles. Other retailers also experience delays. However, we do not wait until the release date to order them. We do preorder and intend to ship on the release dates.

Steve... thank you for being so attentive to us in this forum! I've ordered from 800.com over 10 times in the last year or so, and the very rare problems I've had have been addressed quickly and appropriately. Moreover, I've never spoken to anyone at 800.com who was not polite and helpful (unlike CS at most other online retailers I've dealt with!). I continue to buy from 800.com because you take such good care of your customers! Thank you http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

PS My DVDs that shipped early were delivered yesterday according to USPS tracking. Hopefully they will be waiting for me at my new apartment when I move in on Friday! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif
