I tried to get Best Buy to match CompUSA's price of $14.88 on the Collector's Edition of A Bug's Life, but it was a no-go. They said that, since CompUSA was getting rid of their DVDs, it was considered a "liquidation sale" and they don't match the price when the competition has a liquidation sale going on.
Should I have fought harder for the price-match or was it a no-win situation? |
Evidence would say it would have been a losing effort. Seems like Best Buy VERIFIES the price it's matching with the store having the lower price. Even if you have an ad, they'll call to verify that the store still has one in inventory.
Or at least that's been my experiences. |
Best Buy was in the right for once, most places do not match clearance items.
|
That's what was even more infuriating.......I had proof!!! I printed out a info sheet from CompUSA's site that showed a little picture of the Collector's Edition box and the listed price of $14.88 and they still wouldn't give it to me.........what's up with that?

Two things -
1) Like darealbastard said, most places will not match clearance/liquidation sale prices 2) Even if they did, you still wouldn't get it because Best Buy would have VERIFIED that the store had a copy of the DVD IN STOCK (which they wouldn't have) |
Most stores don't match the clearance prices in my experience ......

I was in Best Buy yesterday and contemplated doing the same thing with A Bug's Life CE, but thought better of it. Figured there was no way they would match a clearance item price, especially on a $39.99 DVD.
