I just placed an order w/ this company yesterday (for those that don't know it's a Hong Kong etailer w/ good prices on imports). Anyway I just sent them an email w/ a question about one of the DVDs. They CALLED back just to make sure the question got answered before they sent out the order, also to make sure that I meant to order some VCDs w/ the DVDs.

Granted there were some problems w/ the language comprehension on both sides http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif You've got to give them credit for the effort though http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I've dealt with them several times and I must say, they're getting a good reputation.

Just checked them out for the first time... am I to understand that I simply divide the HK prices by 7.75 to get the price in USD? If that's the case - they have outstanding prices - better than US prices in many cases (granted I have to watch them on my PC cuz of the region encoding)... Shipping 30 bux = 3 bux and change US$ meaning about the same as buy or amazon...

Am I thinking right here? Is this possible? Wish I had an Apex player... region encoding is bullsh^t

7.7 is roughly correct. For the "current" (for any currency to any other) check out http://www.xe.net/ucc/ Actually most HK movies are region 0, which is all regions http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Although I have had some problems w/ some R0 DVDs in my laptop player (a Dell). Thankfully everything has worked in the console player so far...

That's awesome news - so I can play these in my DVD player? Sweet. Cheap and good... This place is for me. Jet Li and Jackie Chan movies in their original spoken language is nice - looks like they are going to start carrying anime eventually also. Great.

Wish I could read those little characters... if I didn't have a girlfriend who lived with me, I might even pick up some of that cheap japanese porn. =)

The original HK movies are usually longer too and usually have more material in them.

As for the Japanese DVD's they rock as well...

For those of you who didn't see it, I started a link a while back talking about DDDHouse, and the replies got pretty extensive:
http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/014111.html

Virtually all HK DVDs produced in HK (Universe, Mega Star, Mei Ah, Ocean Shores, Deltamac) are region free, the notable exception being Swordsman (and even this movie is being remastered and probably will become region free). To be sure, look at the HK Films on DVD site, which has recently moved and been renamed to the Asian DVD Guide:
http://www.asiandvdguide.com/

As for US conversion rates, I have been getting $7.71HK to $7.72HK to the dollar on my credit card bill for orders in Hong Kong over the last 3 months.

I can't figure out how to do searches on their site. Is it possible?
