eBay limits my selling privileges to ONE item per month?

Just tried listing an item up on eBay and after trying to list the item I got a message saying 'It looks like you've reached the number of items you can list. You can list up to 1 item this month. Request to list more'. After clicking on the request to list more link I get a message saying this..

'Confirm that you already have an established seller account
What's this?
If you've been selling on eBay using another account, let us know and the higher monthly selling limits will then apply to both your accounts.

Call us to discuss your selling goals

Take some time to talk about increasing your selling limits.'

I've been selling on eBay since 2000 with a 100% (611) feedback rating (last 12 months). Anyone else come across this nonsense? 14 years I'm selling on there and suddenly I can only list one item a month?? Sounds to me like they are trying to bust users who are using two accounts to sell?

I only had 1 account, but something similar happened to me before I was restricted from selling anything on eBay. They set a number of items I could sell and restricted how much money I could list for. Shortly after that I was kicked from selling at all. Good luck.

Amazon does the same except give you the warning. If you log in to your seller account from the same IP as another seller account, you get boned.

Do they have some restriction of one seller per household that they're starting to enforce?

No idea. Tried calling them today, hung up after waiting for 45 mn. My account is active since 2000, my brothers since 2005.

Yeah the IP thing has been around for awhile. I once logged into my account on a friends PC, and the next day eBay had our accounts linked and my friend suddenly had a lower limit.

eBay is beyond stupid.

That's odd, I've been selling from multiple ebay accounts for years, as far as I know there was never a rule against that, unless something has recently changed.

Re: eBay limits my selling privileges to ONE item per month?

Well I just got off the phone with them and had the limit removed. Had nothing to do with multiple accounts. In 2013 my home was burglarized & 3 items I had for sale on ebay were stolen as well as my computer resulting in buyers claiming they didnt receive their items. Even though I issued refunds to all 3 buyers apparently it affected my account. I rarely use ebay anymore which is why I just noticed it.

Amazon is just as bad except they suspend your account, instantly blaming you for scamming them and then you have your one appeal to defend yourself.

They shut off my prime because they said I was buying stuff with prime and then selling it on the marketplace. That part was true. What they didn't seem to care about were the emails I'd get from amazon suggesting I sell things I'd bought because they were good sellers, so if it was a movie that I ended up not caring for, I'd sell it used.

Huh...that is just odd, as I would think Amazon could care less if you do that...afterall, you are just a flyspeck on the wall, compared to their major marketplace sellers.

The eBay limit...I ran into that last year, and I have been active on eBay since 1999 (selling since 2001), and I had around 3,400 Feedback at 100%. I guess in the year or so between my last listing this imposed item limit thing kicked into gear. I was limited to a paltry number of items the first 30, then it increased when I clicked on the verify you have a certified type account link, and it boosted me up again, and then after less than 90 days I was up to being able to list up to 700 items with a 6 or 7 thousand total sales limit (where I stand today).

I never did have to call, and fortunately, the first 60 days I did not need to list more than a hundred items (or I would have called to have them nuke the limit on my account), and since I have only gotten up to a hair over 200 items in one weekend and no more than potentially 2-3 thousand in sales, I am not stressed over the limit that currently hangs over my account.

I still think eBay is the best venue to sell my comic/TPBs/HCs/music (once ripped to iTunes), but yeah...eBay has not been tiny seller friendly for quite some time. I suspect they want you to call so they can up sell their pay monthly listing tools, but fortunately I just bought a laptop with a windows 7 license (from TigerDirect eBay, in fact), so I can still use the free Turbolister tool.

This is probably the ONLY reason I'd have Prime. During my free BF trial I got alot of cheap DVDs/BDs on the marketplace. (Didn't hardly buy anthing new from Amazon LLC, except a few BBY PMs). None of them were for resale, but it would be a potential way to get cheap OOP stuff. It's probably a good thing I don't have Prime, because I could see myself spending many a night browsing, looking for cheap bargains.

Did they give you a partial refund for unused time? Amazon is too controlling and too manipulative and they are becoming my least favorite online retailer.

I got nothing. I contacted them and copied some of the emails I got saying I should sell specific items I bought with prime, and that I wouldn't do it again. At first they were saying they'd give it back but a day later I didn't and then they told me they wouldn't. After that they never responded to anything.

If I really cared, my wife could make an amazon account and get prime and I'd be fine as long as she didn't do another seller account but fuck that.

For bargains, I like to use www.camelcamelcamel.com, which gives me price alerts sent to me. I also have priceblink installed on my browser, which brings up other store prices when I'm looking at whatever item. Most of the time, I can get things cheaper from places other than amazon.
