I made a big order there(don't ask why) to save on shipping and stuff. Have they EVER shipped early? I received my Stand By Me; SE yesterday and my American Psycho is still on pre-order. This is making me pretty mad and I'm not going to get stuff from then anymore. I would get buy.com but I am questionable because of there bad reputation for being random on shipping... This post is really pointless and im just venting my frustration.

Oh yeah... I was supposed to get The Home Alone Collection (3-pack) and ended up with a porno instead! I returned the porno and today I received the Home Alone DVDs except that the second movies case is broken and the disc is scratched something fierce! It's safe to say I don't like Express either. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/mad.gif

I've always had really good luck with them but everybody's human. I think the consensus on this forum will be that Express is one of the better e-tailers. BTW, this thread will probably end up being moved to the Online Store Forum.

The only way to save on shipping through Express is to have all of your movies in an order to ship all at once. Basically, if you have preorders throughout a months time...the only way to stop Express from charging you more for shipping is to select the ship once all titles are available selection. If you do not do this, they will charge you the initial shipping fees when preparing to ship other titles as they become available!!!

I have about 500 dvds, and have bought about 80 to 90 percent of them through express. I have always recieved outstanding service, and have been loyal to them for quite some time.

Then came 8/15.

Express for me has been two different companies. Before the 8/15 release date, they had excellent customer service, and always sent the right titles to me, on time. Since 8/15, they have not been recieving many items in stock. I grew frustrated waiting for them to fill orders for titles that were available all over the internet, and B&M's everywhere. To my knowledge, the titles I had ordered from them have still not arrived. After the current week, when they did not have American Psycho, Fly/Fly2, Scandal, Men In Black LE, I cancelled all my preorders with them. I have attempted to call them to see what is happening, and the quality of their support is drastically different then what I have come to expect. When asked about titles that were released weeks ago, the response was "that not available yet." They have not responded to emails either, something they always did prior to 8/15.

With their stock, I am noticing that when enough time has passed, they move titles from preorder status to out of stock status. But many titles remain unavailable.

I have heard that express is going out of business, and will not be filling orders for smaller titles, just major releases until that happens. I would not conclude that that is happening. Rumours are easy to come by, and hard to prove. But the behaviour of Express in recent weeks has me wondering. Whether this is a temporary glitch that will be straightened out soon, or there is a serious shift in the way the company runs, the coming weeks will tell.

And in the meantime, I am very happy with DVDplanet (formerlly Ken Cranes)

Express has gone downhill.

Cancel your orders with them.

Buy at Best Buy or Costco. It's just as cheap or cheaper and you get it on the release date not weeks after.

Just because you type it doesn't mean it will happen. Only mods can move stuff.

You could not have said it better Brad2
.....DVDPLANET(KEN CRANES) will be around in the future when all of these other companies fold....they have been servicing their customer base for years in the Laserdisc era and continue to service old and new customers in the dvd era!!! Sure, I still get the bargains through Buy.com and other places but I know in the end where I will be purchasing all of my dvd software.....the place which will continue to offer 30% off when others have gone to 15-25% off and the place which charges a flat shipping fee of $2.50. Not to mention, their customer service has always been top notch!!! I have always received in stock merchandise two days after placing the order!!!

According to people at www.animeondvd.com it seems like express.com is having trouble with one of their distributors since a month ago. A bunch of titles have not arrived or have been delayed. They're usually pretty good, but I'll have to see how they resolve their current troubles. I guess it would be wise to cancel your current preorders.

Margo 09-08-00 09:34 PM

Oh drats!! I just checked and my only pre-order this week Mission to Mars is now on backorder. I've got plenty to watch sitting around here, but this isn't good...

PS It would seem that Express is using the same Backordered to Ready for Shipment method that Reel used to use. My order has now shipped out, but was backordered for a short time period. Interesting... (Edited to add PS)
