I don't exactly know whats up with DVDEmpire, my lethal weapon 1-3 DC still hasn't shipped nor has the al pacino collection. I had a e-mail explaining the problem but it was all in mumbo jumbo. Steve (or someone) was going to call me about a "meeting" they had. But I'm busy with school during the day.
Buy.com shows lethal weapon 1-3DC as next tues. release and al pacino as 10-31 release Amazon.com shows these as Ships within 24 hours. Weird! |
I used to buy all my DVD's from DVDEMPIRE back when this format was first catching on (First order: Jan 5, 1998). Before that, I was just purchasing at my local laserdisc store. I didn't know where to find really good deals at the time, so the whopping 20% off retail was really looking good to me. They charged a $5.50 flat fee for FedEx shipping at the time, and again I was ok cause I didn't know any better. One day, I went to place an order, and I found that the % off had risen, but the shipping had changed from the flat fee to the now typical flat fee + per disc charge. They advertised it as "Now all pre orders are lower" or something like that, but didn't mention that the new shipping made up for it. That just really bugged me, and I did a search for DVD sites, and found DVDTalk. I yelped with excitement when I found all the coupons, and reel was my new best friend. With the reel funeral, buy.com is my new best friend for many reasons.
1) COUPONS! 2) mix #1 with at LEAST 40% off preorders (for what I want, at least) 3) They ship when things come in, so you don't have to combine and wait (something that bugs me about most retailers). 4) They ship usually ASSURING that you get the DVD on release date, usually before. Back on topic... I always found that DVDEMPIRE would ship on Friday, and I only got ONE shipment early (and I had a LOT). The only one I remember having a real delay with was Robocop: Criterion, but that was due to a shortage in general. I don't really believe in internet consumer loyalty at all. I, and most of you I assume, go where the prices are cheapest, and the company is reputable. I hope at least some of this was topic relevant http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif. ------------------ Need a hug? Just ask and please specify type (cuddly, regular, bear) and duration (quickie, regular, let's have a kid). [This message has been edited by cartman (edited September 08, 2000).] |
