RS was the Terri Shiavo of businesses.

Hmm, interesting that they will team up with Sprint.

I bet the Sprint thing will work out just as well as the thing with Blockbuster and Dish Network did.

I don't think it's accurate to say they are teaming up with Sprint - it's more that Sprint would take over some of their leases for their own retail stores. Amazon and Brookstone are in talks to take some as well.

That's how I read it. Sprint is basically just expanding their brick and mortar footprint. I can see them phasing out of the extra crap Radio Shack currently sells over time.

Re: Looks like Radio Shack is in trouble

Thought there'd be a RadioShack-Sprint co-branding? Like Sprint would be the store-in-a-store?

It's expected that:
- at least 1,000 of 4,000 RS will close.
- RS will sell up to 2,400 stores.
- Sprint gets 1,700 of those stores.

I guess that could be, but that wouldn't benefit Sprint at all. They could just as well dump the Radio Shack name. There's no added benefit to it at this point.

I haven't been in RS since 2011. And that was an accident. I entered the wrong store. And before that? Probably 1993.

How does one go in to a Radio Shack by accident? There has to be a funny story behind this.

Almost all the stores closing near me are in questionable locations and seemed pointless, even when Radio Shack was doing well 20 years ago. Larger Radio Shack locations were nearby, even more conviently located. At least four of the stores are within walking distance of Fry's Electronics.

Looks like all of the ones in this whole region are closing. I see all of the ones I know about on that list.

Oddly enough, the one in the small town I grew up in isn't on there. Really surprised that one is staying open.

I'm pretty sure this is the only way anybody's entered a Radio Shack in at least 10 years. And the only way they'll let you leave is if you give them your phone number.

I actually entered the mall store willingly a couple weeks ago when the wife and kids were at the shoe store next door. They had an item I was interested in, but their security clamps made it impossible to read the back of the package so I gave up and left.

I wonder if Jesus F. Christ is still living at 696 Heavens Gate Rd. Employees would take that name and address without any problems when I used to shop at RS. Of course, RS probably purged their list since then, as it's been about 8 years.

Local news had a blurb about the store in my town closing. I've lived here nearly 4 years and had no idea we had a Radio Shack.

Mine put up the 30-50% off sale sign on Friday and I heard by Monday it was cleaned out.

Well, I needed a stereo cable this weekend, and I didn't realize that Radio Shack had basically closed all their stores. They closed 500 stores earlier this year when they declared bankruptcy, but they just closed the remaining 1000 stores over Memorial Day weekend, so everything is pretty much gone.

Oh man, I knew there was only one remaining store in my town but appears that even closed. I do admit I have stopped in to buy simple connectors and DIY electronic type parts over the last year. Still had to struggle with the employees being difficult to deal with and point me to the part even when I had the part number. I guess when you know you are losing your job you don't need to put in much effort. Still will miss them....heck 35ish years ago I even worked/managed a store for them. Yes, I'm getting old now get off my lawn.

So where do we go if we need a diode, capacitator, or some other little doohickey?
